Fortnite Cube crashes Summer Skirmish on the way to next location

Fans are still trying to work out what the Fortnite Cube and where it might be heading to.

And today it caused some major disruption during Epic Games’ Summer Skirmish event at PAX West.

A series of solo matches made up week 8 of Summer Skirmish action today, with several heats determining who made it into the final round.

Players could score points by scoring a victory royale, finishing in the top ten, or by tallying up over 3 eliminations.

But something the competitors weren’t prepared for was the Fortnite cube.

The mysterious purple object has been making its way across the map, burning runes into the ground while also creating low gravity zones.

During the fourth match of the Summer Skirmish, players found themselves heading toward the cube, due to the storm circle.

The Fortnite cube affected the circle of gameplay, sending players into the sky while they battled it out.

And following the cube’s influence on match four, the Fortnite casters confirmed that the gravitational effects would be turned off for the remaining games.

A seventh match was also added to the Summer Skirmish final, although it’s unclear if this was in connection with the cube’s pull.

It’s still unclear where the cube’s final destination will be or how long it will take to get there.

It was first thought that it could be heading toward Loot Lake; however, it now appears to be heading toward Greasy Grove.

But having taken so many detours, there’s no telling where it might end up next.

At the time of writing the Fortnite cube is on the Battle Royale map near Greasy Grove with fans left wondering where it is moving to next.

So far the Fortnite cube has been moving like clockwork, with it taking a step every one hour and 43 minutes.

It took five days since the Fortnite cube first appeared for it to take a step and then leave behind its first rune.

If the Fortnite cube continues moving at the same speed and leaving behind a rune at the same rate, then calculations may show when it will activate.

That hypothesis would show the Fortnite cube would take a step and leave behind its seventh and final rune on Friday, September 28.

However, it remains to be seen if the Fortnite cube immediately ‘turns on’ after leaving behind that rune.

It seems like whatever the cube does next, it will likely be part of some new live in-game event.

Just like how the rocket launch could be seen blowing up on live servers during season 4, it’s expected something big will happen with the cube in season 5.

There’s still no telling where it will go and what it will do when it gets there, although you can imagine it will be visible over much of the map.
