‘It's like a ropey WAXWORK’ – Inside Windsor Castle lookalikes MOCKED by viewers

Inside Windsor Castle, the Channel 5 programme exploring the lives and dramas of the Royals, was taken to task by amused viewers.

The episode focused on the various divorces within the Royal family between 1972 and 1992.

It started by exploring the breakdown of the marriage of Princess Margaret, when she was discovered having an affair with Roddy Llewellyn, a toy-boy 17 years her junior.

However, this wasn’t what caught viewers’ attention.

The show features reconstructions of certain pivotal scenes, with actors playing members of the Royal family.

One of these showed the Queen finding out the news of her sister Margaret’s affair for the first time.

But many viewers were distracted from the dramatic scene by the actors involved.

“The actors portraying the royals in this programme look absolutely nothing like them. It’s like a ropey waxwork,” commented Darren Hayes on Twitter.

And he wasn’t the only one who noticed.

“There’s a doc on the Royals. VO [voice over] in the style of Traffic Cops and ‘lookalikes’ which are anything but,” wrote Mark Simpson on Twitter.

The scene presented her Majesty reading the News of the World over breakfast in shock – and the audience was equally bemused for another reason.

“Are we really meant to believe the Queen read News of the World at breakfast!” tweeted viewer Lisa Sleep.

The programme also focused on the breakdown of Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage, and not everyone was complimentary about the pair.

“Seriously what was Diana doing with Charles…such a bizarre couple!” wrote one viewer one Twitter.

However, the episode wasn’t all doom and gloom, showing crowds cheering as Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles, now the Duchess of Cornwall, in 2005.

It also focused on the success of the Queen’s 90th birthday, which saw Brits celebrating up and down the country in the summer of 2016.
