Gmail update: How to turn off conversation view in Gmail mobile

Gmail has claimed dominance over the email industry by attracting more than a billion people worldwide.

The search engine giants recently rolled out a new update for Gmail to make managing your inbox easier and faster.

This update also stretches over to Gmail’s mobile app, where you can now disable Conversation View from your emails.

Express.co.uk explains how you can turn off Conversation View from your Gmail mobile app here.

What is Gmail’s Conversation View?

Conversation View is Gmail’s grouping tool.

The feature allows users to set whether emails of the same subject are grouped together for easier inbox management.

This will chunk together emails into one long thread – or conversation – to make it easier to track what is being said and reduce the size of an inbox that has multiple emails in the conversation.

By default, Conversation View is always turned on in Google Mail.

Google has previously allowed users to switch Conversation View off on the web desk version but the next update also allows users to disable the feature on mobile too.

Google said: “In Gmail, replies to emails are grouped together as ‘conversations,’ to make them easier to digest and follow.

“Some users, however, prefer to see each of their emails listed individually in their inbox.”

How do you turn off Conversation View in Gmail mobile?

To turn off this feature, open up your Gmail mobile app.

Tap on the Menu button in the top right and select settings.

In the General Settings tab, find Conversation View and uncheck the box.

This will disable Conversation View and relieve the clutter in your inbox.

What else is new in the Google Gmail update?

Gmail has a new look for a number of features users already have access too, plus a raft of new ways to organise your inbox and take action on emails.

The latest update includes the following options:

  • Organise emailed from your inbox
  • Snooze emails until later
  • Use suggested replies and follow-ups
  • Expand and shrink your inbox
  • Show or hide the menu
  • View calendar and tasks
  • Send emails and attachments confidentially

How to try the new Gmail

On your computer or laptop, go to the main Gmail homepage.

In the top right, click Settings and then select the option called Try the new Gmail.

If you change your mind, you can click Settings and then Go back to classic Gmail.
