Melania Trump, 48, is the First Lady of the United States, being married to President Donald Trump for 13 years.
However, that didn’t stop Melania seeming to take sides with basketball player LeBron James after Donald Tweeted against the star.
Interviewed by CNN’s Don Lemon, the 33-year-old athlete was asked about Donald Trump’s view on black players.
In the interview Le Bron accused Trump of using sports as a “way to divide us”, adding that “sports has never been something that divides people. It’s always been something that brings someone together.”
Following the interview the President took to Twitter to share his opinion on the interview.
Donald tweeted: Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which is’t easy to do. I like Mike!”
But despite hostility between Donald and LeBron, it appears that Melania has taken the high road, choosing to stay out of the unfolding drama.
Spokesperson for Melania, Stephanie Grisham said: “It looks like LeBron James is working to do good things on behalf of our next generation and just as she always has, the First Lady encourages everyone to have an open dialogue about issues facing children today.
“Her platform centers around visiting organizations, hospitals and schools, and she would be open to visiting the I Promise School in Akron”.
As documented on her social media feeds, Melania is a great supporter and patron of children’s charities, often visiting children’s centres and hospitals around the world.
The basketball star founded The LeBron James Foundation which aims to “positively affect the lives of children and young adults.”
Following Donald’s tweet other big names responded, with LeBron’s reported rival Michael Jordan adding: “I support LeBron James. He’s doing an amazing job for his community.”
Don Lemon also added: “Who’s the real dummy? A man who puts kids in classrooms or one who puts kinds in cages? #BeBest.”
Be Best is the public awareness campaign promoted by Melania, focusing on wellbeing for youth in the US.
In another possibly dig at the President, spokesperson Grisham noted that Melania’s Be Best initiative promoted responsible online behaviour.
Melania’s reported stance following the LeBron James debacle isn’t the first time she’s publicly had opposing views to her husband’s.
Two weeks ago it was reported that Melania caused a “bit of a stir” aboard presidential jet, Air Force One.
According to an article published by the New York Times, the First Lady reportedly angered Donald by watching a certain TV news network.
The article, which cites a private email as its source, claims the 48-year-old was watching CNN aboard the plane.
Her preferred network then caused a “bit of a stir”, with Donald Trump “raging at his staff” for “violating a rule that the White House Entourage should begin each trip tuned into Fox.”
