The actor, 35, is one of the most popular on Coronation Street and has played the long running character since 1998.
While he previously displayed a softer frame, Alan has recently shared various images in which he looks noticeably slimmer and more toned.
In the most recent snap, shared this week, he wears a white short sleeved shirt which shows off his impressive biceps.
Alan has not spoken out about what, if any, diet plan he has been following.
But it is clear he hasn’t changed his body by cutting out alcohol, as he holds a large beverage in his most recent Instagram picture which he confirmed is alcoholic with the caption “#somuchGin”.
While he hasn’t shared a break down of his fitness routine, he does post images of himself in the gym lift weights.
Followed rushed to comment on his new look, with one writing: “Looking hot”.
Another said: “You look soooooo good!!”
One noted: “Serious transformation!”
Alan is not the only soap star to overhaul his body in recent months, with former Emmerdale actress Lisa Riley shedding a whopping 12 stone in 18 months.
Speaking on Lorraine recently, she revealed the method she used to shed weight.
And it wasn’t a quick fix that saw her shed the pounds, but instead “changing her lifestyle”.
She also shared the one exercise she owes her new body to – zumba.
The actress was on the show to discuss her new book, Lose Weight for Life and her first book, Honesty Diet.
Talking to Lorraine on writing her first book she said: “I knew all the tricks and porky pies that people tell you, and I put them in the book.
“But now, it’s for life and for my second book I was like, okay right, there are so many more questions to answer.
“I realised the psychology linked with people who were as big as I was, I was a size 28, and that people use food as a comfort blanket.
“I was guilty of that, food and stuff that’s not too good for you was my comfort blanket.”
Lisa then went on to explain how she managed to escape that mindset, and shrink from a size 28 to a size 12.
The former soapstar also revealed how she stays motivated to keep the weight off – and it is a simple trick anyone can try.
