Cheap drug hope for 500,000 at risk of stroke

HALF a million Britons who are unknowingly at risk of a fatal stroke caused by an irregular heartbeat could be saved by cheap clot-busting drugs, according to research. A study in the European Heart Journal found that 4,000 strokes were prevented in England between 2015 and 2016 among patients with atrial fibrillation , a heart rhythm disorder, by taking anti-coagulants such as warfarin.
