Trainers can eight new Alolan Pokemon to their Pokedex this week, however, Niantic has only made this possible through their new Friends list feature.
Everyone can now add friends in Pokemon Go, making it possible to trade with each other and share gifts.
Gifts can be picked up after visiting a PokeStop or Gym, and are also key to grabbing those eight new Alolan Pokemon.
HOW TO SEND A GIFT IN POKEMON GO
Trainers can’t open the new Gifts themselves, but have to pass them onto to someone else.
When their Friend opens the Gift, it will contain a bundle of useful items, as well as a Postcard from the location it was spawned.
But the biggest bonus to getting one of these new bundles is that it could contain special Pokemon Go eggs.
And what’s more, these 7KM eggs have now been confirmed as the best way to collect those eight new Alolan Pokemon.
“Alola, Trainers! Professor Willow has confirmed reports of Alolan Pokemon hatching from Eggs that were gifted by another Trainer,” Niantic reveals in a new Twitter post.
These Pokemon have been confirmed as Alolan Meowth, Grimer, Sandshrew, and Vulpix.
And the good news is that players can also use candies to evolve these Pokemon into Alolan Persian, Muk, Sandslash, and Ninetales.
For those desperate to add these new Pokemon to their Pokedex, you will need to have open spaces available in your egg menu.
Without the extra space, you will not have a chance of having one of these items included in your Friend Gift.
Eight eggs or less is the golden number, putting a heavy emphasis on trying to ship out those ones already filling up incubator space.
POKEMON GO FRIENDS AND GIFTS
Niantic have confirmed that you can hold a maximum of 5 Gifts in your Bag at any given time.
However, the good news is that Gifts do not take up any of your inventory space, with players apparently able to receive around 20 Gifts each day.
Your Friend will receive a notification that you sent them a Gift, which will come with Poké Balls, Potions, Berries, and the possibility of Pokemon Eggs.
The benefit of sending Gifts is that it will also increase your Friendship Levels and earn you extra bonuses.
However, there is also a bit of teamwork involved, because if your friend has not yet opened a Gift that you’ve previously sent them, you won’t be able to send them another one until they open the first one.
So don’t let those bundle start backing up, otherwise you might miss out on a few other deliveries.
It should be noted that this feature is only available to Trainers ages 13 and over.
HOW TO SEND GIFTS IN POKEMON GO
Head to you Map View and navigate to your Trainer Profile.
Tap the Friends tab at the top of the screen to open your Friend List.
Tap on the Trainer that you wish to send the Gift.
Tap on the Send Gift button.
Select which Gift you would like to send.
Tap on the Send button
