Pokemon Go Water Festival event end time: Kyogre Raids won't be around for long

fans are counting down to the end of the .

The Pokemon Go Water Festival finishes later today (June 21) at 9pm UK time.

“It’s time to make a splash!” reads a new Niantic post.

“Our Water Festival returns June 7 at 1:00 p.m. PDT, with Water-type Pokemon such as Magikarp and Wailmer appearing more frequently in the wild.

“Some lucky Trainers may even encounter a rare Shiny Shellder for the very first time during the event! Plus, enjoy Field Research tasks highlighting Water-type Pokemon until June 21 at 1:00 p.m. PDT.”

Not only can fans capture more water Pokemon, but they can also battle Legendary Pocket Monster Kyogre.

“Raid Battles will also feature powerful Water-type Pokemon for the duration of the celebration, including the exciting return of the Legendary Pokemon Kyogre.

“And, if you challenge Kyogre during the event and come out victorious, there is a chance you’ll encounter its Shiny form!”

The only bad news is that defeating Kyogre isn’t easy. This Legendary beast is one tough customer, so check out the gallery above for a look at the best Pocket Monsters to take into battle.

As Pokemon Go Hub points out, the best Pokemon to use against Kyogre is Raikou.

In fact, most Electric types work well against Kyogre, especially the likes of Zapdos and Jolteon.

Latios is useful against a Kyogre that doesn’t have Blizzard, while Venesaur can deal good damage with its Frenzy Plant move.

Exeggutor – and there have been lots of those recently – are also good against a non-Blizzard Kyogre, while Ho-Oh is described as a great performer.

The Water Festival is also awash with other bonuses and goodies.

“Alongside increased appearance of Water-type Pokemon appearing all over the world, you’ll be able to earn 3× Stardust for catching Water-type Pokemon,” Niantic continues.

“Plus, 2 km Eggs will hatch exciting Pokemon such as Totodile, Mudkip, and Corphish – earn Double Candy and Stardust for every Egg hatched!”

The Water Festival continues for just a few more hours, so hurry if you want to bolster your collection.
