How to live longer – this is how many avocados you should be eating every week

Eating a healthy, balanced diet is crucial to helping you live longer, according to the NHS.

You should also make sure to do plenty of regular exercise.

Every UK adult should aim to do at least 150 minutes of activity every week.

If you’re a smoker, one of the best ways to lower your risk of an early death is to give up smoking.

Small lifestyle changes are all that’s needed to increase your lifespan, it added.

Adding more avocados to your diet is a great way to help you live longer. You should aim to eat about four avocados every week, nutritionists have revealed.

Avocados provide the body with plenty of nutrients, and reduces cholesterol, according to dietitian Juliette Kellow, and medical consultant Dr Sarah Brewer.

Adding more avocado into your diet will lower the amount of ‘bad’ cholesterol in your body, while boosting the amount of ‘good’ cholesterol.

You could even lower your risk of prostate cancer by eating more avocados, they claimed.

They contain the nutrient lutein, which reduced the growth of prostate cancer cells by 25 per cent, scientists have found.

It’s also one of the best foods for regulating your blood pressure.

“Creamy and delicious, avocados are loaded with good fats that lower cholesterol and protect against wrinkles,” said Kellow and Brewer, in their book ‘Eat Better Live Longer – Understand What Your Body Needs To Stay Healthy’.

“Eat half an avocado three to four times a week.

“Although avocados have many health benefits, remember they are high in calories.”

Most of the nutrients in avocados are kept in their dark green flesh, closest to the skin.

You should eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables everyday to lower your risk of an early death, the NHS said.

Fresh produce should make up about a third of your total daily food intake.

Eggs are another great food that could help to prevent an early death.

Everyone should aim to eat six eggs every week to boost their overall health.

Eating more eggs could help you to lose weight, while boosting your memory and bone health.
