Avengers 4: Will Captain Marvel TIME TRAVEL forward from the 1990s?

WARNING SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS INFINITY WAR AHEAD

She was only teased in the end credits scene, but a dying Nick Fury sent a distress call to Captain as he turned to ash.

Fans will know Larson’s upcoming solo movie is set in the 1990s, when Fury had both eyes.

But just where has she been for the first 10 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Of course she could be off-world, but what if Fury’s pager was some kind of time travel messenger?

With this in mind Captain Marvel would receive the message in the 1990s and somehow travel forward in time to help the Avengers in defeating Thanos.

There’s certainly evidence that Avengers 4 will involve time travel, following set photos and videos of Ant-Man star Paul Rudd in scenes from previous Marvel movies that his character wasn’t in.

Although the other option is an exploration of the multi-verse through the Quantum Realm, something that looks likely to be revealed in Ant-Man and the Wasp this summer.

This could also mean that instead of Fury’s pager contacting Captain Marvel in the past, it in fact reaches her in another universe.

He continued: “Nobody knows, and that’s what makes me particularly excited. I look all the time on the internet: people have no idea!

“[Avengers] 4 resolves the intrigue of Infinity War; [the movies are] clearly linked, but they almost seem to belong to two different genres.

“We did not want to cut a film in half and say, ‘Pay now and come back in a year for the rest!’ These are two very different stories, on a tonal and structural level.”

Avengers 4 is released in the UK on April 26, 2019.
