The Emmerdale star joined Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on This Morning earlier today when he made the huge revelation.
Following a discussion about his acid attack storyline on the ITV soap, Michael revealed he now has plans to head to America.
The 31-year-old explained that he has a lot of connections to America.
Michael said: “My grandad fought in Vietnam and shipped the family over. My mum was born in Oregon and my mum in Mississippi.
“I feel like I’ve had a big American influence in my life, obviously because my mum’s American.
“I feel like it’s always calling me. At some point I will go. It’s calling me [to live there].
“I just think it would be so cool to just maybe do a year in New York or something.”
He then added: “And maybe go for it in LA and see if I can get some work out there.”
Phillip and Holly looked surprised but happy for the actor.
Michael went on to add: “I just want to be an actor that jobs.
“Someone who just pops up in a little episode of this or a little episode of that.
“I have no desire to be a huge superstar. I just want to act.”
When Phillip questioned him on a possible Emmerdale exit, Michael explained that he would stay for as long as the writers wanted to keep him for.
He smiled: “As long as I’m allowed. I’m going to keep trying.
“How long I’ll be in Emmerdale for? Well, as long as they keep writing for me.”
Ross went on to explain the impact his acid attack storyline has had on him.
He said: “He was very handsome, I’ll give him that. He was almost arrogant with it and now it’s all been stripped away from him.
“It’s been a very tough year, he’s lost his mum, dad and brother. Not just the acid, he’s got lots of things coming at him all at once.
“It’s a very sensitive subject, it’s a golden gift to act for an actor with so many different emotions. I’ve been very lucky.
“I don’t think there’s a piece of footage that I haven’t seen or studied to try and get into the mind-frame of people who have suffered.”
Michael then teased: “All secrets get out because there’s no secrets in soap. They all come out eventually.”
