BBC weather forecast: Carol Kirkwood warns MORE rain and cold easterly wind to hit Britain

Britain is faced with more bad weather today as dark clouds and some patches of rain spread across parts of the country.

Thursday will start of cloudy for most, with showery rain turning to drizzle in the north-east of England and eastern parts of Scotland.

Meteorologist Carol Kirkwood said: “There are some showers and there’s some drizzle in the forecast.

“At the moment we’ve got drizzle across parts of the Midlands, Wales and we’ve also got some patchy rain across Northern Ireland.

“Now that’s going to be moving west, but really for many of us what you had yesterday is also what you’re going to have today.”

As the day progresses a lot of cloud, mist and even some hill fog will develop in the north of the country.

This afternoon some areas will brighten up, particularly across south-west England, north-west Scotland and Northern Ireland.

These sections could see temperatures reach as high as 15 degrees, however, areas closer to the North Sea will feel cold.

Tonight heavy rain will move northwards, potentially pushing thundery showers across the south east.

Most places will stay cloudy, but temperatures are not expected to drop drastically overnight.

Moving into Friday and the breeze across the north east is likely to remain, although an area of low pressure in the south could bring more unsettled weather.

On Friday morning there will be a few outbreaks of rain across northern England and Scotland.

Meanwhile, in the south it is going to remain cloudy but there should be some spells of sunshine.

Temperatures will improve, with the warmest weather likely to be in the south east of the country.

It is believed temperatures could reach a high of 15 degrees in Norwich and London, while the rest of the country will see figures range between nine and 13 degrees.

This weekend temperatures are going to gradually increase, with London likely to peak at 17 degrees.

At times there will be some showery rain and maybe the odd rumble of thunder in parts of the country.

Next week Brits could bask in the sunshine as temperatures are predicted to sore, with it possibly reaching 25 degrees.
