The 18-year-old singer soared to victory on Saturday night’s show, and her cover of The Cranberries’ Dreams has been at the top of the digital store’s rundown ever since.
It’s even been outselling the highly-touted new single from Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa, One Kiss, which came out on Friday.
Whether or not Ruti can go all the way and be the top of the official UK charts remains to be seen: that rundown factors in not only digital sales from outlets such as iTunes, but also streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music and TIDAL.
Ruti is not on the UK Top 50 on Spotify at time of writing, meaning she is unlikely to be at in pole position when the Official Charts Company unveil their midweek listings later today.
Still, triumph on the iTunes charts is a great achievement for the winner of a show that notoriously struggles to produce stars.
Ruti has won not only a cash prize but also a highly sought-after recording contract, after being mentored by Sir Tom Jones – now she’ll get to work on an album for release in the near future.
Last year’s winner Mo Jamil scored a Top 40 album at the weekend with his first LP Evolve, charting at No36.
That’s significantly higher than his predecessor Kevin Simm, whose own effort Recover peaked at No144 in late 2016.
To date the only The Voice winner who has obtained a Top 10 album is 2013’s Andrea Begley, whose record The Message hit No7.
Ratings for The Voice UK’s final were up year-on-year by a mammoth 1.6 million – with an average of 5.2 million tuning in.
