Final Fantasy 7 Remake release date update as new details emerge about PS4 game

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake is arguably one of the most eagerly anticipated PS4 games on the horizon.

However, since it was announced back in 2015 – news on the Square Enix title has been few and far between.

Last year, which marked the 20th anniversary of Final Fantasy 7’s release, was hoped to bring with it more details on the remake.

But, apart from a handful of new screenshots, Final Fantasy 7 Remake news was few and far between.

This year has started on a more positive note though, with fans already seeing new screenshots thanks to an anniversary event held in Tokyo.

Square Enix have previously said they would reveal release dates of a number of big games before E3 2018.

While they did not name the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, that JRPG revival – as well as Kingdom Hearts 3 – are the two main games Square Enix have lined up.

So, a release date announcement on those titles are the ones that fans will mainly be waiting for.

As excitement builds for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the JRPG revival was named as the most anticipated game on the horizon by Famitsu readers.

Fans of the respected Japanese gaming magazine for the past few weeks have placed the FF7 Remake as the game they’re most looking forward to.

And it was no change again in the latest issue, with Kingdom Hearts 3 once again in second place too.

In other Final Fantasy 7 Remake news, a new job advert revealed that Square Enix are looking for a level planner to work on the JRPG revival.

The “project’s current progress” section of the game also gave fans new details about how development is progressing.

The job advert, reported by Gematsu, said: “We are examining programmes that implement general functions and contents for Final Fantasy VII Remake as necessary on the development team, and while we are reaching a satisfactory level in terms of reproducing the original title in high-quality graphics, we have come to the conclusion that we should aim for even higher quality in order to meet the expectations of fans.

“That said, we will tackle the production of this big title by establishing core members of various positions such as level planner, battle planner, designer, engineer, etc. including existing members of the development team. Interested applicants are expected to work as a core member.”
