Four Days That Shook Britain viewers heartbroken over attack footage: 'Such a tough watch'

One year after the attack on Westminster bridge, the special documentary looked back at the events and those who were affected.

The one-off programme looked at the attacks on Westminster bridge, Ariana Grande’s concert at the Manchester Arena, London bridge and Finsbury Park.

Eyewitnesses from each incident recalled how each attack unfolded and how they have been affected by what they saw.

Looking back on the , Lily Harrison’s mother Lauren, revealed the moment she discovered her daughter had been hit by shrapnel in the back.

“There was just a perfectly round hole,” she said wiping away tears.

“It was so close to all her major organs. We looked at each other and thought, ‘That’s it, she’s gone.’ It was quite a tough moment.”

She later added: “Lily underwent surgery to remove the shrapnel. She said, ‘Why did he do it mummy?’”

Lily herself also reflected on the attack, commenting: “I sometimes couldn’t get to sleep because it was very dark.”

Revealing that her friends at school questioned why she had missed classes, she noted: “I said, ‘You might not want to know it was that bad.’ I didn’t want them to have nightmares.”

Meanwhile, British Transport Police officer, PC Mark Renshaw, recalled arriving at the scene of the attack.

“One male just went out of consciousness when I got to him,” he said. “A paramedic told me, ‘Just go onto the next one’.”

Those tuning into Four Days That Shook Britain were left in tears over the footage that was shown.

“It feels so wrong even seeing glimpses of what people had to see on uncensored bless them #fourdaysthatshookbritain,” one viewer wrote on Twitter.

Another added: “Cannot imagine what it must have been like to have been at the scene of any of these inhumane, horrendous events #FourDaysThatShookBritain.”

A third continued: “I feel sick to the pit of my stomach. My heart is breaking all over again #FourDaysThatShookBritain.”

“Tears streaming down my face heartbreaking viewing. Going to a concert and losing your child this should of never been #FourDaysThatShookBritain,” someone else shared.

A fifth commented: “This is an incredibly hard watch. #lily #FourDaysThatShookBritain.”
