The Game of Thrones actress has played the fearless Arya Stark since the hit HBO series began in 2011 but her time on the show is quickly coming to an end.
Speaking about preparing for the eighth and final run of the series, Maisie confessed she will miss playing the youngest Stark daughter, hinting it could be the end for her character.
“The hardest thing about the show ending is that I’ll never get to be Arya again,” she noted.
“For a long time, we felt like the same person, but now that I’m older, I’ve grown into a different person and found other stories to my personality.
“But I do wish she shaped me to be more fearless in the industry.”
The actress went on to note that she will miss her role suggesting her character may not be present in the Game of Thrones sequels that are planned to follow when the show comes to an end.
“Honestly, no matter what else I work on, I’ll miss playing her,” the 21-year-old InStyle.
During her interview with the fashion magazine, Maisie admitted that she almost missed her Game of Thrones audition.
The actress almost ditched her chance to play Arya in favourite of going on a field trip to a pig farm.
Maisie’s comments about her future on the show come after one fan theorised that Gendry (played by Joe Dempsie) could kill her in a heartbreaking twist.
Reddit user ascott767 suggested: “So for all intents and purposes, Gentry is a prince.
“Now, it’s told that Azor Ahai must forge his weapon by killing someone he/she loved with it so this theory is that in season eight, Gendry and Arya will have a bunch of flirtations that turn out to be love.
“Jon, Dany, and all the dragons die leaving Gendry to lead with Davos and Jaime advising him.
“Jon legitimises Gendry from his deathbed. Gendry will kill Arya fulfilling the prophecy and making him Azor Ahai reborn.”
“Gendry defeats the Night King and his army becomes the King of Westeros,” they concluded.
Game of Thrones will return to Sky Atlantic and HBO in 2019.
