Brendan Cole admits URGING Strictly bosses to make him Len Goodman's successor

Len, 72, bowed out of the BBC series after taking part in the Christmas special in December and now speculation regarding Len’s replacement is rife.

And Brendan is urging bosses to cast their eyes in his direction, having told BBC Radio 2 today: “I would love to be a judge.

“I’ve told the BBC I’m up for the job if they would like to even consider me. Make no bones about it, it would be a great gig – it’s a phenomenal slot.”

Not one to sell himself short, the 40-year-old added that he was “very qualified” to take over the reins, having been a professional dancer on the show since its debut back in 2004.

He also claimed that his experience as a judge on the New Zealand edition of the celebrity dance competition should work in his favour.

But Brendan isn’t the only Strictly pro whose name has been in the mix to replace Len.

Anton Du Beke and Karen Hardy, who was a dancer on the show from 2005 to 2008, have also been listed as possible contenders.

Len’s long-time friend and ballroom dancing extraordinaire Gary Edwards has also been tipped as a fresh face to replace him.

Despite his hopes, Brendan joked that “they will probably have somebody else in mind”, though that doesn’t mean he won’t stop “plugging away and hope for the best”.

“It’s something I’d like to have happen in my life at some point,” he continued.
