Fans remember that last month the unhinged Lachlan White (played by Thomas Atkinson) hid in the attic of his family home in a carefully orchestrated plan to seek his revenge during Robert Sugden’s (Ryan Hawley) simultaneous plot to bring everyone down.
Tonight finally saw Chrissie White (Louise Marwood) discover the truth about her son’s secret dealings, when she heard his friend Gerry Roberts (Shaun Thomas) sneaking around upstairs.
Stunned at the ease with which Chrissie and Rebecca (Emily Head) then managed to find the entrance to the den, viewers took to Twitter in confusion.
One person said: “That secret place no one knew about suddenly appears to be very easily accessible to all! #Emmerdale.”
“This just proves how stupid the whites are, Lachlan was hiding up in the attic and drilling holes and they didn’t hear anything. But as soon as Gerry is making any type of noise they go and find out what the noise is #emmerdale,” another wrote.
A third agreed: “How did they hear Gerry looking for something but they didn’t hear Lachlan drilling holes into a ceiling #Emmerdale.”
Fans continued to share their frustration with the ITV soap, as they found even more apparent holes in the storyline.
“If the attic is above Chrissy’s bedroom then how the hell did he manage to look into the kitchen? #Emmerdale,” one person said.
“I can distinctly remember Lachlan spying on them through the hole when they were standing by the front door #Emmerdale,” another added.
Later, as the whole truth about Lachlan’s despicable nature finally came out, Chrissie did her best to help her troubled son, but it wasn’t long before he turned on her.
Unable to see the reality of his worrying behaviour, Lachlan told his mother menacingly: “You never listen do you. You know you pretend like you’re listening but all you’re ever really doing is waiting for your next chance to speak again.
“All you ever do is make things worse, but I’m not a kid anymore mum, I’m the one who’s in charge now.”
