The hit dystopian series is back at the end of the year with six gripping episodes: USS Callister, ArkAngel, Crocodile, Hang the DJ, Metalhead and Black Museum.
However, when asked exclusively by Express.co.uk ahead of season four’s launch whether this would be the last series, Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones remained tight-lipped.
Writer Charlie joked: “People said that [it would end] on the set [for Black Museum] because they were worried about the script…”
Meanwhile, producer Annabel mumbled: “It’s up for discussion.”
“There’ll be a discussion at the end,” Charlie quickly agreed.
The conversation comes in light of season four’s final episode, Black Museum, which is thought to be a love-letter of sorts to the anthology series as a whole.
Addressing the episode’s rumours, Charlie, 46, also confirmed a huge fan theory, saying that the episodes exist in one universe.
He teased: “It does sort of… It is and it isn’t [one universe]. I think Black Museum refers to almost every episode we’ve ever done.
“We always used to say it’s a shared universe but then I started to say it’s a psychologically shared universe and now some of the episodes are definitely connected because there’s specific references within that story to things we’ve seen in other episodes.
“So it sort of is now,” Charlie laughed.
Black Mirror returns to Netflix on December 29.
