At this year’s Sundance Film Festival, MoviePass announced the launch of a distribution arm of the company, called MoviePass Ventures. The plan was for the monthly movie-ticket subscription service to start teaming with film distributors to buy titles for theatrical release.

Days later at the festival, MoviePass announced it was working with The Orchard (“Cartel Land”) to buy North American rights to one of the festival’s acclaimed selections this year, “American Animals,” a narrative/documentary hybrid that follows a group of friends who attempt to pull off an elaborate heist.See the rest of the story at Business Insider
