Airline news: Could you become a flight attendant? An insider explains the TOUGH process

Working as a flight attendant is generally considered an exciting job with lots of opportunities.

After all, it offers the chance to explore the world for free, without having to fork out for expensive holidays.

However, few know just how difficult the application process is to become one of the cabin crew staff.

An anonymous flight attendant opens up about her experience, which meant she took three years to qualify.

“The application is a very long and hard process,” she told Express.co.uk exclusively.

“Every time you don’t pass any of the four stages of the interview your application gets dismissed and you have to wait a year till you can re apply.”

This happened to her three times during her own application process – although it can be more for others.

“I waited three years to get this job,” she explained.

First, you apply online and have to complete a challenging aptitude test before you can go to the next stage.

“They give you a timed exam paper to do which is basically a maths test and it involves working out time zones.”

“Once you pass that bit during the day you do a role play where the examiner plays a difficult customer,” she continued.

“They give you instructions but you have to deal with it accordingly.”

The third stage is a test with your fellow applicants, to see how well you work in a team.

“You have a group exercise and it’s all about how you are working together with other people.

“It’s simple: you just have to do well in the role play scenario or it’s a big ’no’!”

Finally, if you passed the last stage, you have one last interview: “There are two examiners in a room and they ask you questions about your experience in previous jobs and when you’ve had to deal with difficult situations.”
