UK Staycations are growing in popularity

According to last month’s World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) figures, UK travel and tourism grew at four times the rate of the country’s economy in 2017. 

As the UK continues discussions with EU leaders as to a Brexit deal, the pound to euro exchange rate has been sent into flux.

British holidaymakers are opting for a staycation closer to home this year with many opting for the home away from home experience Airbnb offers.

Highlighted in Airbnb’s UK insight report, Airbnb has listings in over 191 countries worldwide. 

However, current travel trends are seeing more British travellers opting for a weekend away in one of Airbnb’s 168,000 listings dotted around the UK.

Although, it’s not your average outhouse that British travellers are searching for. The top 10 wish listed properties revealed by Airbnb are something to write home about. 

Castle, Cumbria

Cumbria castle offers guests the choice of 17 grand rooms with beautiful views of the countryside. 

Built in 1841, the Victorian house is fitted with four poster bedrooms, family rooms, garden suites and has turrets. 

Old Smock Windmill, Kent 

Nestled into the Kent countryside, the four-story building tops many wish lists. 

The mill has been lovingly restored to retain its quirky charm while still offering guests the chance to holiday in comfort and style.
