Tiger Woods birdied his final hole on Friday at the Farmers Insurance Open to drop to 1-under for the tournament, a number that would prove just good enough to make his first cut since 2015.
Woods had to rally on his final nine holes of the day to make it happen. After nailing birdies on three of seven holes, Woods bogeyed to move him one stroke short of making the cut with just one par 5 hole left to get it back and earn a spot to play through the weekend.
In dramatic Tiger fashion, he pulled it off.
After an errant drive left him in the rough, Woods hit a powerful second shot to find the edge of the green. From there, he needed to two-putt from 90 feet in order to make the cut. After judging the green and his distance, Woods hit a magnificent putting approach to leave him just a few feet from the hole. He would finish the job on his next stroke, dropping to -1 on the tournament and putting him above the cut line.

With many players still finishing the round, Woods would have to sweat out his spot a bit and hope that the cut line stayed where it was. But when the final golfer entered the clubhouse on Friday, his 1-under proved good enough to keep him golfing on Saturday.
Tiger still sits far off from the top of the leaderboard, but his inspired play through his final nine holes of the day left golf fans excited at the prospect of his return to major play this year. He’s currently listed at 15/1 to win the Masters in April — the fourth best odds in the field behind only Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth, and Rory McIlroy.
