Tim, 50, was on hand to help Simon, 55, as Sunday Brunch returned this morning on Channel 4, with the pair joined by singer-songwriter Maverick Sabre in the studio kitchen.
Watching on as the presenters gave a cooking demonstration, several other guests including comedian Jimmy Carr, 46, and Derry Girls actresses Saoirse-Monica Jackson and Siobhan McSweeney were sat on the other side of the studio.
Normally, the hosts of the show try to keep communication going with the guests although there attention is turned to other aspects of the show such as cooking.
However, when it came to turning his attention to reading through the dictionary when discussing how Maverick came up with his stage name, Tim jokingly hit back at the other guests.
Wanting to know more about the singer’s background, Tim asked: “Is it true you choose your name by taking your initials and going to the dictionary and picking the first word?”
Maverick replied: “Yeah, I did. I was fifteen and I was starting out on myspace. My initials were MS, so I found two words for me, matched what I was trying to put out and the message I was trying to put out.”
Tim then said he was going to try the same logic with his co-host Simon, as well as finding an alternative name for himself.
Flicking through the pages, Tim choose ‘thesis’ as his first name but faced some difficulty when it came to trying to locate a word to use as his surname.
Aware their were several eyes focussing on him while he struggled through the pages, Tim jokingly remarked: “Can everyone stop looking at me.
“I feel pressured to find L [in the dictionary],” to which Derry Girl actress Siobhan replied: “You’re on the television. What did you think was going to happen?” referring to people watching him present the show.
The actress then joked: “This isn’t when you decide I don’t like people looking at me.”
After the cooking segment, the presenters joined their guests to speak with cheese expert Morgan McGlynn, as they also delved into tasting the dairy treats.
However, as Morgan tried to explain the specifics about the cheese, the guests and presenters were speaking over one another, commenting on the culinary delights and make some light-hearted jokes.
Viewers on Twitter weren’t too happy with the communication going on in the studio however, as Morgan tried to continue giving her expertise on the cheese.
One posted: “How do people watch @SundayBrunchC4 when all these people are talking over one another during the food tasting. Had to turn it off. #SundayBrunch.”
Another added: “@SundayBrunchC4 All the shouting over each other has hurt my head…what happened to ‘easy like a Sunday morning’ #SundayBrunch.”
