Stranger Things season 2: Cast drop MAJOR hints about the Upside Down

Some of the cast of Stranger Things have dropped some hints about what viewers can expect when the show returns in October.

Speaking at the recent South By Southwest Festival in America, composers Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein offered up some juicy morsels about season two.

“There are new characters, fun, and the Upside Down will be more of a place… you’ll spend more time,” Dixon said, reported Digital Spy.

He added: “So we’ll make a lot more weird music this time around.”

Their words make sense given that season one focused on the initial discovery of the Upside Down world, which is essentially a rift in time and space to a parallel universe where everything is in a state of decay and death.

The SXSW interview comes not long after co-creator Matt Duffer told Entertainment Weekly: “Will seems to be seeing images from the Upside Down – the question is whether they’re real or not.

“So it seems like he’s having some sort of post-traumatic stress disorder.”

Season two of Stranger Things will pick up on Halloween night a year after Eleven’s (played by Millie Bobby Brown) fight with the Demogorgon.

It will also deal with Will Byers (Noah Schapps) dealing with the trauma of being trapped in the Upside Down in season one as well as the fact he is carrying what appear to be Demogorgon spawn.

There will be struggles for both Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) and his older sister Nancy (Natalia Dyer) as they come to terms with the loss of Eleven and Barb (Shannon Purser), who they believe are dead.

Meanwhile, police chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) will be battling to keep the Upside Down a secret from the rest of the town of Hawkins.

The rift will be monitored by government scientist Dr Owens (Paul Reiser), who could well be the next chief antagonist of Stranger Things with the death of Dr Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine).

A teaser trailer released during the Super Bowl back in February showed the main characters Will, Mike, Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin) and Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) in Ghostbuster outfits on Halloween night out about town.

New faces in the form of Billy (Dacre Montgomery) and Max (Sadie Sink) will be moving into town and hiding their own dark secret.

Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) is set to be getting a love interest in the form of Sean Astin as Bob Newby, a kind-hearted geek who went to high school with her.

The head of Netflix recently revealed that he had seen the first episode of season two and praised it.

Stranger Things season 2 will drop on Netflix on Halloween.
