No Monterey Car Week is complete without the attendance of supercar makers like McLaren showing off their latest lineup of wares. One way the British concern marked the occasion this year was with the debut of a special one-off custom creation for one of its clients, a gorgeous purple 720S. But the shade isn’t just purple: It’s called Fux Fuchsia.
–
The client is none other than self-starter Michael Fux, an entrepreneur who made a whole lot of money in the mattress industry and spends a lot of that dough on collecting cars. He now has one of the biggest, most exclusive, and most colorful assemblies of hyperluxury rides and supercars in the country. Many of the cars, which come from a wide selection of iconic brands including AMG, Bugatti, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren, have vivid paint schemes. His McLaren P1, for example, is an electrifying shade of green.
–
Fux’s mission to paint the streets in a rainbow continues with this new McLaren 720S, which borrowed the color from a car he’d previously commissioned from Rolls-Royce. McLaren Special Operations (MSO) took the hue and paired it with a rich-looking white interior.

The purple color has also been applied as a streak across the door panels, on the rims of each wheel, on the rearview mirror, and on the steering-wheel spokes. Furthering the bespoke take, the exhaust and window surrounds are Stealth Gray. The wheels feature a dark platinum finish, and the package makes extensive use of carbon-fiber trim. The seats, headliner, and door panels are covered in textured white leather with white stitching, while the floor mats are upholstered in white microsuede.

This 720S is just the newest set of wheels to add to Fux’s growing array of Woking specials. He also has a 12C in McLaren Orange, a 12C Spider in a different bespoke purple, and the aforementioned green P1. And this isn’t even the only car Fux is debuting at Pebble. He also has a purple Rolls-Royce Dawn that he said was painted to match the color of flower petals he found during last year’s visit to the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance (check it out in the Instagram post below). Anybody in Monterey this weekend could not have failed to spot the eye-popping purple 720S on the Concept Lawn at the Lodge at Pebble Beach.
