Prince William: Why the royal always travels with this particular item

Prince William, 36, often travels abroad as part of the Royal Family on state visits, to represent the UK.

He is often joined by his wife, Kate Middleton, 36, as well as his children.

While Prince George, five, and Princess Charlotte, three, have already joined him on a trip, Prince Louis, four months, is yet to join.

There is a particular item that William always takes with him on holiday, and is something that has been part of the family for generations.

The royal always takes a Globe-Trotter suitcase with him when travelling abroad.

Established in 1897 in Germany, the brand moved to the UK in 1932 and was favoured by Queen Elizabeth during her honeymoon in 1947.

Ever since then, it has been used by a number of Royal Family members over time.

Prince William has been seen with his own version from the limited Goring Hotel collection during their tour of Poland.

While the particular suitcase is no longer available, similar styles cost up to £2,840.

Kate Middleton has also been spotted with her own Globe-Trotter luggage, along with Prince George and Princess Charlotte who have a miniature version.

It was estimated the four suitcases, as well as a smaller vanity case, also spotted doing the Poland tour, cost as much as £5,000 for the entire luggage collection.

Princess Diana also used the iconic brand for her honeymoon with Prince Charles.

Prince Harry has not been spotted with the iconic British brand suitcase nor has Meghan Markle, although she has previously used Ghurka, a brand with a British heritage.

She could choose to improve her luggage game, however, for her next tour of Australia and New Zealand with Harry next month.

The Globe-Trotter brand has also been favoured by Winston Churchill, as well as used by James Bond in the film Spectre.

Another item used by all of the members of the Royal Family is luggage tags with the colours depending on the person.

For example, the Queen and Kate Middleton have yellow luggage tags, to avoid confusion of which suitcase belongs to each other.

Prince William has a red luggage tag, while Prince Harry’s colour is unknown.

Meghan Markle has yet to be given an official Royal Family luggage tags.
