The former UKIP leader, Nigel Farage, spoke to the Good Morning Britain presenters alongside Liberal Democrats leader Sir Vince Cable, 74.
Piers’ interview with President Trump that aired last night sparked debates over Brexit, the referendum, and the British people.
On what Prime Minister Theresa May ought to do next, Vince said: “It’s, of course, to let the British public vote for the final referendum.”
“But we’ve had one!” Nigel cut in.
“Nigel Farage, you said there might be a second referendum,” Susanna Reid, 47, retorted, shocked.
“Yes I fear it,” he replied. “Because of people like this.”
“People like Vince Cable, people who don’t accept the result,” he added. “Most of the House of Lords that don’t accept the result, because I fear—”
“You didn’t say fear, you said you wanted one,” Piers continued.
“No, I never said that,” he added, defending himself. “I absolutely, absolutely never said that.
“Talk about fake news,” he concluded.
“You said it would be a good idea to have one,” Piers commented. “That was the exact wording. You said it on the Matthew Wright show.”
“It’s a retreat,” Vince added.
“No, there’s no retreat at all,” Nigel continued.
“I said,” Nigel clarified. “We may have to have a second referendum, and if we have it, we will have to win it bigger than last time.”
“That’s not I fear a second a referendum,” Susanna pointed out. ”That is we may have to have one.”
“You’ve just started your own fake news,” Piers swiped.
