Flight secrets: Passengers admit to joining Mile High Club – with the cabin crew

One of the best-kept flight secrets is that of the Mile High Club, such as how many people really join it and whether or not sex on a plane is legal.

Whilst many airlines frown on it, due to it being seen as having sex in a public space, some show discretion depending on the laws of the airline.

A new survey from dating website Saucy Dates asked 11,000 passengers from the UK and US about people who had joined the Mile High Club, with over five per cent admitting to it.

Yet of those five per cent, some of the most shocking stories have emerged.

The study found that 18 per cent of those who partook in the illicit activities had done so with a member of the cabin crew.

Whilst the majority was with their partners (37 per cent), over 30 per cent admitted it was with a stranger.

Other details to have emerged were the most popular time of it happening being at night (68 per cent) and the most popular location being the bathroom (59 per cent).

Whilst it can be tempting to try it out with the thrill making many excited, the 78 per cent who admitted to wanting to try to could be interested in knowing that 13 per cent admitted to being caught by the flight attendants.

Some passengers revealed some of their stories of joining the mile high club.

A 40-year-old man revealed: “My girlfriend snuck in the bathroom first. I waited two minutes and then gave her a secret knock that we both had agreed on.”

Another passenger, a 24-year-old woman from Huddersfield, admitted to partaking in the activity with a stranger: “We had been chatting for a while and he just asked. We both carefully made our way to the bathroom, lucky the plane was dark as it was a night flight.”

Yet one more man from the US admitted that he had been caught in the act: “A flight attendant knocked and told us to return to our seats and never said anything else.

“However she did pull me aside at the gate when landed and said ‘never do it again’.”

Two mile high club passengers were embarrassed to have been caught in the act by a man filming from his phone.

The viral video shows them onboard the Virgin Atlantic plane whilst flying from London Heathrow to Miami.

Despite not being caught by the flight attendants at the time, the airline later praised them after posting the video on their Facebook page.

They wrote: “We’re pretty sure that’s our plane! The mood lighting certainly put a smile on their faces. #smilehighclub.”
