Flight attendants often reveal the glamorous parts of the job, from seeing the world to discounted flights.
Some parts of the job are less exciting when it comes to dealing with tricky customers or long working hours.
Amanda Pleva, a flight attendant of fifteen years, revealed some of the secrets regarding the bedroom during a shift.
Many may not realise that the layovers between jobs are often not as fun as previously thought.
She wrote on travel blog Flyertalk: “You’ll share a bedroom with 10 other people.
“Crashpads, the apartments shared by flight attendants and pilots when they’re away from home and in between trips, are a weird world.”
It can be a mixed bag regarding the place that the cabin crew stay: “They can be beautifully maintained or flophouses, constant drama or a group of great new friends.
“With so many people under one roof, tensions can flare from something as simple as a dirty spoon left in the sink.”
For those who like their personal space, it certainly doesn’t sound like a fun way to spend a night.
She also revealed how flight attendants end up changing their eating habits after working for so long in the industry.
Pleva explained: “At work, we tend to hide in the corner of the galley and shovel food in our faces out of passenger view and in between services.
“You will start doing the same at home, facing the kitchen wall eating your dinner in ten seconds flat.”
Other flight attendants have revealed a shocking secret to how they earn more money during a flight.
A survey by Jetcost.co.uk found that flight attendants regularly admit to short-changing passengers when they return their money after a purchase.
More than 50 per cent explained that by giving back change in a foreign currency, they could confuse passengers with the amount they gave back.
German flight attendants kept the most, gaining an extra £410 a year.
Despite the highly illegal practice, British flight attendants pocketed on average £331 a year.
