The coming of age teen comedy series from Netflix is sure to be a hit with Stranger Things fans and even fans of original 90s teen series like Saved By The Bell and My So Called Life.
Taking us back to 1996, Everything Sucks follows two groups of nerdy high school outsiders, the Drama club and the AV club, who live in the town of Boring, Oregon.
The tag line for the show is: “You Can’t Fast Forward High School” and the series will follow the main characters as they navigate their way through the crazy world of American high school, where everything sucks.
When does Everything Sucks start on Netflix?
The brand new series will begin streaming on Netflix on February 16.
All episodes will be available to watch immediately, which is great news for fans of a binge watch.
Ten half-hour episodes have been ordered by the streaming giant for season one.
Who stars in Everything Sucks?
The young cast are mainly unknown as of yet, but one familiar face is 14-year-old Peyton Kennedy who previously starred in 2017 movie American Fable.
Peyton plays the part of Kate Messner. Other characters completing the line up are Luke O’Neil (Jahi Winston), Emaline (Sydney Sweeney), Oliver (Elijah Stevenson), Tyler (Quinn Liebling), Mc Quaid (Rio Mangini), Leslie (Abi Brittle) and Cedric (Jalon Howard).
Boardwalk Empire actor Patch Darragh is also reportedly involved as is Claudine Nako from Grimm.
The series was co-created by Ben York Jones and Michael Mohan whose writing credits include films Like Crazy and Save The Date.
Is there a trailer for Everything Sucks?
Yes – and it is full of intense snippets of 90s nostalgia.
It shows a classroom full of bored students that inhabit the world of 1996 where discmans “make your favourite song skip” and where “untagging photos was violent” as we see one of the main characters angry scribble a face from a photograph.
Everything Sucks will drop on Netflix on February 16.
