In a statement on Twitter, Bristol Airport confirmed none of the 25 passengers had been hurt.
“After landing at Bristol Airport at 11.36 this morning an Embraer 145 inbound from Frankfurt (flight number BM1822) left the runway while taxiing. Passengers were disembarked and returned to the terminal by coach. None of the 25 people on board were hurt.
They also confirmed the runway remains closed and have apologised for the disruption to passengers.
“The recovery team has arrived on site with the specialist equipment required to remove the aircraft. The runway remains closed whilst the aircraft is towed to an aircraft stand before flights can resume.
“The runway is unlikely to reopen until 19.00h this evening at the earliest. We are sorry for the disruption and flight cancellations experienced and fully appreciate it is frustrating for passengers.
“We thank passengers for their patience while we continue to work to return operations to normal. In the meantime, all passengers are advised to contact their airline to obtain the latest flight information.”
