X Factor 2018: ‘It was a surprise’ Gio Spano dealt cruel blow ahead of live show

This weekend, X Factor 2018 viewers will see the remaining contestants battle it out to be a step closer to winning the all important recording contract.

However, it seems it could be the end of the competition for one act from Ayda Field’s, 39, category The Overs.

According to bookmakers, Giovanni Spano, 33, will be eliminated this weekend, as odds from Coral claim he is the favourite to leave at 2-1.

A spokesperson from the betting company said: “It was a surprise to see Giovanni sail through last weekend.

“We still think he might well be on borrowed time,” they added.

As with the other live shows, Giovanni wouldn’t be leaving alone, as two acts are eliminated every week.

The other contestants also in trouble and at risk of leaving the competition are Danny Tetley, 37, and United Vibe, both with odds of 4-1.

Following last week’s performance, “United Vibe haven’t made much of an impression” to viewers Coral suggested.

It comes as the boyband chose Party In The USA by Miley Cyrus for Guilty Pleasures week.

The group failed to impress the judges, in particular Simon Cowell, 59, who insisted they needed work as well as a new name.

Their mentor, Robbie Williams, 44, agreed said: “We’ve got work to do. And I think Simon is right, we need to pick a name for you because United Vibe is terrible.”

Whilst they are struggling to stay in the competition, it seems Dalton Harris is on to win the show.

With odds of 6-4, he is the bookmakers favourite and continues to dominate the betting.

“It’s one way traffic in terms of our betting on who will win X Factor this year and after a steady start Dalton is now absolutely flying,” Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead said.

“Our punters are absolutely backing him without any doubts in their minds and it looks like he’s got just what it takes to go all the way.”

But it could be a close call as Shan is hot on his heels with a 3-1 chance.

Fan-favourite Anthony Russell and Misunderstood are both carrying odds of 8-1.

Last weekend, viewers saw Janice Robinson eliminated first after receiving the lowest amount of public votes.

Following her was LMA Choir, the first choir to have taken part in the competition.

They went head to head with Brendan Murray, and after the judges votes, it went to deadlock and LMA Choir were sent home.

X Factor 2018 return this Saturday at 8.35pm on ITV.
