Is Gilmore Girls returning to Netflix?
Viewers who enjoyed last year’s Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will be pleased to know “preliminary talks” have begun for another season.
Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos revealed he was talking to series creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino about a follow-up.
The four-part revival saw Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel reprise their roles as the fan-favourite mother and daughter duo.
Although no concrete information has been revealed yet, the success of the revival increases the likelihood of a new series.
Sarandos said: “We obviously loved the success of the show, fans loved how well it was done, it delivered what they hoped.”
Of the last revival, Sherman-Palladino said: “We really had a very specific journey in our minds and we fulfilled the journey.”
In November, she said that they had to put the last series to bed before asking themselves “is there more?”.
“And then whatever happens, happens,” she told Hollywood Reporter.
What happened in A Year in the Life?
Gilmore Girls ended on an open note with Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) revealing her pregnancy to to her mum Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham).
This led fans to speculate a new series could follow through on that story arc.
The comedy-drama first began by following single mum Lorelai raising her daughter in the small town of Stars Hollow.
Rory falling pregnant means the story came round full circle but fans could still see room to continue.
Who are the cast of Gilmore Girls?
The two leads on the series are played by Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel.
Kelly Bishop reprised her role of Lorelai’s rich mother Emily Gilmore.
Edward Herrmann who played Richard Gilmore was absent after he passed away in 2014 after losing his battle with brain cancer.
Scott Patterson was back as Luke Danes, the owner of “Luke’s Diner” and Lorelai’s partner.
Jared Padalecki of Supernatural, had a guest appearance in one episode after being absent from season six and seven.
