Why the iPhone 9 may not be the budget Apple phone you were hoping for

is widely presumed to planning the announcement of three new iPhones at its forthcoming hardware event on September 12.

In addition to showcasing a direct successor to the current iPhone X that could be called the iPhone Xs, Apple is also expected to show off its largest iPhone ever.

It has been suggested this device could be called the iPhone Xs Max and come with a 6.5-inch display.

Such a move hints Apple may ditch the Plus branding that has become synonymous with its larger devices since the debut of the iPhone 6 Plus back in 2014.

But much attention has been paid to an alleged third device Apple could unveil at its forthcoming hardware event.

This iPhone is expected to be a cheaper piece of hardware that still flaunts an all-screen design but does so while forgoing certain premium features to allow for a more affordable price tag.

Some have predicted this device will be called the iPhone 9.

The hardware has been predicted to arrive in a multitude of colours by publication Macotakara.

The outlet declared the iPhone 9 could sell in white, black, flash yellow, bright orange, electric blue and taupe variants.

iPhone 9 has also been said to feature an LCD screen instead of the OLED technology used in the current iPhone X.

And alleged prototypes of the device shown off by Marques Brownlee on his YouTube channel showed the phone only arriving with a single camera sensor on its rear.

But the iPhone 9 may not be the budget device some fans were hoping for if a new report is to be believed.

Macerkpof, citing people familiar with Apple’s pricing plans, declared the iPhone 9 could cost €799 (£713.83).

And this is presumably for the baseline model with the smallest amount of storage.

This means the device may not be as incredibly cheap as some had hoped.

TrendForce previously indicated the 6.1-inch iPhone 9 will come in both 64 and 256GB models.

The market intelligence firm added the device will come with 3GB of RAM compared ago the 4GB of RAM present in the iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max.

Apple fans will not have to wait long to see what the official pricing for the iPhone 9 will be.

The American tech giant is presumed to unveil all on September 12 at its Cupertino campus.

Express.co.uk will be covering the showcase live.
