Lightning storms can be a terrifying experience.
Whilst dangerous, those who stay away from open areas or metal conductors can usually find themselves out of the way of harm.
One person filmed a heart-stopping thunderstorm from a flat, appearing to think he was safe being inside a building.
What happens next proves he was incorrect.
The video shows the person filming the area, as the sky lights up in a purple colour when lightning strikes.
They appear to be filming from his house on the balcony when suddenly a bright light fills the screen.
Suddenly, a huge bolt of lightning strikes just inches from the person filming, landing on the edge of the balcony.
They quickly retreat back into the house in shock, coming away without injury as sparks fly.
The Imgur video has since had over 106,000 views, with many people joking about who the bolt came from.
One asked: “What did you do to p*** off Thor?”
Another joked: “Just Zeus saying hello.”
One man wasn’t so lucky when it comes to being hit by lightning.
Another viral video shows an airport worker standing near a plane.
Austin Dunn, 21, was hit when the plane at Florida Airport conducted the lightning, going through the young man.
Luckily, he survived after being rushed to hospital with third-degree burns.
