WATCH: Terrifying moment astronaut gets stuck in mid-air – how would YOU get free?

The clip was uploaded to image sharing site Imgur and begins with the space man frantically moving his arms and legs trying to get free.

Using all his might he twists his body round, holding his legs tight together, using just his arms.

He manages the difficult manoeuvre, turning 180 degrees, but he still does not move very far.

Next, he tries moving his arms and legs in a wave-like motion, and it is then he starts moving backwards – but only a matter of centimetres.

From his original vertical position the astronaut suddenly become horizontal.

With the front of his body to the ground, he manages to turn so he is facing upwards.

He then uses his arms in a circa motion to pull himself back up vertical.

Just inches away from a rail, he takes his chance, grabs it and breathes a sigh of relief.

While being stuck in mid-air would be a nightmare for some the video’s uploader said: “It happens quite often that astronauts get stuck midair in the Kibo ISS module.

“That’s why they train this manoeuvre to save themselves from such situations.”

A Kibo ISS module is a Japanese science module for the International Space Station used in training.

One Imgur user commented on the video: “Honestly I think I just found my greater fear.”

Another joked: “Oh man, imagine if there was a time-critical button to be pressed, just out of reach.”
