Ulrika Jonsson appeared on Loose Women today and opened up on her decision to split from her husband of 11 years, Brian Monet. The pair were married in March 2008 and have a son together, but in April they announced they would be going their separate ways.
Ulrika spoke frankly about her marriage ending, recalling the lack of intimacy she felt throughout her relationship.
What’s more, she admitted she hadn’t had sex in eight years.
Ulrika continued to explain how her husband had even told her to have an affair, to satisfy her needs.
The Gladiators star, 52, had previously opened up on the end of her marriage, telling the Daily Mail exactly what happened with Brian that caused them to part ways.
Speaking about her sex life, Ulrika revealed: “I quite enjoy that period when things quiet down. I like the security of when things close down a bit, but when we got older things would slow down…
“I have to be honest and say I only instigated it a few times because I couldn’t bare the rejection.
“When you sort of hope that something might happen… it could just be that the signals weren’t picked up on and it could be because I wasn’t raunchy enough.”
Ulrika insisted: “For me, it wasn’t about sex it was about intimacy.”
The TV personality opened up about how she knew it was ending, telling the Loose Women ladies: “I have tried to go through all that and us women are introspective, but there’s always one thing that tips you over the edge.”
Andrea McLean chipped in: “For me, it was the fact he couldn’t make cauliflower cheese.”
Ulrika laughed: “Well Brian, by his own admission, can’t cook.
“I think there’s just a moment you realise you can’t do it on your own.”
Ulrika has also been linked to Sven-Göran Eriksson, Hunter James Crossley and Stan Collymore.
It’s believed she has now signed up to First Dates on Channel 4 in a bid to find love.
She will be paired with a mystery man and will share a dinner with him in the hope to find The One.
It’s thought her episode will air later on in the year.
