Arsenal have only got the chance to sign Inter Milan wideman Ivan Perisic because Manchester United were unwilling to meet his price tag.
That is according to journalist Lars Siverston, who claims United were in for the Croatia international last summer.
“Jose Mourinho was keen to have him at United but United weren’t prepared to pay the kind of transfer fee Inter wanted for him because he’s also 29, if I’m not mistaken,” Siverston said.
“So a loan deal to Arsenal would seem to be slightly less exciting.”

Miguel Almiron has yet to kick a ball for Newcastle but has already brought the feel good factor to St James’ Park, according to Matt Ritchie.
The midfielder, penalty hero of Newcastle’s shock 2-1 win over Manchester City on Tuesday, said that news of Almiron’s impending arrival was just the tonic the players needed to beat the champions.
“The fans want signings so I am sure they’re pleased and it will be good for the group,” Ritchie said. “When a new player comes in, it not only boosts the fans but the players as well because everyone wants to impress in training.
“I don’t think the transfer record is a big issue, it’s more about bringing bodies in to compete and make the squad stronger.”

Fulham have been handed the opportunity to sign Croatian World Cup star Domagoj Vida from Besiktas.
Fulham have the worst defensive record in the Premier League and Claudio Ranieri is also trying to sign Chelsea’s Gary Cahill.
Besiktas are already close to signing 23-year-old Uruguayan Mauricio Lemos as a replacement for Vida, 28.
Vida was linked with Liverpool last summer after impressing in Croatia’s shock run to the World Cup final.

Tottenham will have plenty of cash to spend once they move into their new White Hart Lane home, claims Chris Waddle.

“Daniel Levy will have promised Pochettino that. I expect Tottenham to soon be making £80m signings that can push them to the next level.
“Tottenham fans are used to seeing their side finish in the top 4 and will now be wanting to win silverware. Once Tottenham move in to the new stadium and start signing top players, they won’t have any excuses not to and I think they will.”

Arsenal could re-sign Ismael Bennacer 18 months on from selling the midfielder to Empoli.
Bennacer left the Gunners for Empoli having spent time on loan at Tours is now wanted at Napoli.
Napoli have offered Empoli £10.5m to snap up the the 21-year-old Algeria international.
Arsenal have first refusal on the deal or could accept it, meaning they would get a 30 per cent cut – around £3.15m – from his sale to Napoli.

Burnley have slapped a £9m price tag on Stoke target Sam Vokes as they look to fund their move for Birmingham striker Che Adams.
Sean Dyche’s Burnley are happy for Adams to stay at Birmingham on loan until the end of the season if they agree a deal to sign him before today’s transfer deadline.
Burnley are scrapping with Southampton to sign Birmingham’s top scorer Adams, who notched his 15th goal of the season at Swansea on Tuesday.

The latest on a potential Arsenal swap deal involving Ivan Perisic and Mesut Ozil has been revealed by transfer expert Guillem Balague.
“Swap deals are very, very difficult,” Balague said on the GB Transfer Show. “We are reaching the end of the transfer window, that’s not going to happen.
“Do Arsenal want it to happen? I’m not sure that’s the case either because they are two completely different situations. We know that Arsenal want two loan deals.
“One they want it not be a defender but not so much a centre-back, perhaps a full-back because of injuries and so on.”

Manchester United legend Andy Cole is tipping Liverpool to spend big in the summer whether or not their Premier League title bid is successful.
“They’ll go again in the summer, Liverpool will, because it doesn’t matter if you win the league because you’ve still got to try and better yourself,” Cole explained.
“You’ve got to try and bring in players better than what you already have to strengthen for the next season because if Manchester City win the league or Liverpool win the league, guarantee one of them is going to turn around and say: ‘We need to add players because we lost the league or this and that.’
“That’s how competition gets better and that’s how those players become better players. They will go again, they definitely will go again.”

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has revealed Jordan Rossiter is on his way to Bury for the rest of the season.

Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is the target of a £100m plan being devised by Real Madrid, reports claim.
Rashford is enjoying a strong run of form which began just prior to Jose Mourinho’s sacking back in December.
And Real are set to launch an end-of-season raid to prise him away before United have the chance tie him down with a new deal.
The Sun claim Real are willing to pay £100m for the forward, as well as offering him £250,000 a week to head to the Bernabeu.

Arsenal are set to announce the loan signing of playmaker Denis Suarez from Barcelona today.
The Gunners resurrected a deal for Suarez on Tuesday and he jetted in to London yesterday to finalise the move.
Barcelona jumped the gun by confirming the deal, prior to deleting the article from their website.
However, the switch is on and Arsenal will announce the arrival of Suarez later today.
