Tomb Raider reboot: FIRST LOOK at Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft in incredible set photo

Daily Mail published the first glimpse of Vikander as Lara Croft, climbing, running and swinging along a rusty strand of metal.

The actress wore a grey tank top and black trousers, identical to the most recent video game incarnation of the Tomb Raider.

Made for PS4 and Xbox One platforms, the reboots are noted for their gritty realism compared to the lighter, cartoony flavour of the 1990s originals that inspired the Angelina Jolie’s incarnation.

Jolie famously played Lara Croft twice in 2001’s Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and 2003’s Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.

Both films set her up as the bankable superstar that she is today, despite unfavourable reviews from the critics.

For now fans will have to wait and see if Vikander’s version can break the video game movie curse.

Tomb Raider will be released in UK cinemas on March 16, 2018.
