The Walking Dead season 8 news: Viewers in tears as Carl Grimes dies 'I cried so hard!'

Fans of The Walking Dead  became emotional after watching Carl (Chandler Riggs) die from a Walkers bite, which he caught after he found Siddiq (Avi Nash) in the last show.

Carl, who recruited Siddiq to go with him to Alexandria in episode six – The King, the Widow, and Rick – was attacked by a group of Walkers as they walked through the forest.

Despite the two attempting to fight them off Carl became overwhelmed at one point and was pinned to the ground by two of the Walkers.

During the dramatic struggle, he was bitten by a zombie and was left in shock following the intense tussle.

In the latest episode titled Honour, Carl succumbed to his injuries, causing fans of the hit FOX series to go into meltdown.

The teenager took his own life with a sniper rifle just before he transformed into a Walker after a tearful Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) dug a grave for the noble boy.

Taking to Twitter to comment on the heart-wrenching scenes, one viewer wrote: “Tell me why that first scene of @TheWalkingDead has me tearing up.”

“Hey guys The Walking Dead started not even ten minutes ago and I’m already crying like a goddam baby,” another added.

A third posted: “I’m low key freaking out about @TheWalkingDead,” while a fourth said: “I’m having a hard time accepting this outcome.”

“I never thought it was possible for a TV show to break your heart until I started watching The Walking Dead,” commented another user.

While another fan wrote: “The Walking Dead Carl montage just made me dehydrated because I cried so hard.”

Others fumed about the death of Carl, with one penning: “The Walking Dead killing off Carl makes me not wanna watch it anymore.”

“Why do they have to kill the good characters? This is one of the reasons I have a bittersweet relationship with The Walking Dead. You have to give the heroes hope sometimes,” another moaned.

Carl, the young son of Alexandria leader, has been a prominent character in the series since the very first episode.

His death is sure to come as a devastating blow for Rick as they had a very special father-and-son bond.

The Walking Dead airs tonight at 9pm on FOX UK.
