The One Show CANCELLED: BBC programme won’t air tonight in schedule shake up – here’s why

The One Show usually airs at 7pm on weekday evenings, but for the next three weeks, it has been replaced by a number of other shows.

This is because the BBC has made way for coverage of events unfolding at Wimbledon, with the annual sporting event making 2019 on schedules from today.

Although Wimbledon got underway at 1.45pm this afternoon, with coverage due to wrap before the six o’clock news on BBC One, The One Show has been completed removed from the schedule.

With coverage continuing over on BBC Two until 9.30pm tonight, BBC One will broadcast a number of other programmes such as a double bill of EastEnders.

On Friday’s instalment of the show, Mel Giedroyc, 51, and Jo Whiley, 53, presented a special edition of the programme live from Glastonbury.

Following the episode, the official Twitter account for The One Show told viewers the programme would be taking a three week hiatus.

“We’re off air for three weeks for a summer break!” the post read, before adding: “We’ll be back on Monday 22nd July, @BBCOne from 7pm. #TheOneShow #Glastonbury2019.”

Last week’s collation of shows also saw music icon Lulu, 70, sat down with the Matt, 41, and Mel to speak about her latest projects.

With a tour on the horizon, Lulu told the hosts about how the name of the musical gig came to be which did reference a rude remark.

After the hosts told viewers the name of the tour was: “Lulu On Fire,” the music icon said: “But let me tell you [a story]…”

“Because you know we talked about me being in the business a long time, a long career, I said why don’t we call it – jokingly – Lulu AF,” the star continued.

Matt was shocked by the remark, which Lulu then went on to add: “Don’t ask me to explain it!”

Turning to the camera, Lulu told viewers: “Anyway it’s called Lulu on Fire and we start September,” as the presenters look at each other more confused than ever.

“Don’t ask me to explain it,” Lulu reiterated. “They will never allow me on the BBC again! I was trying to be funny, oh my God.”

As Matt tried to regain control of the situation, Mel still didn’t have a clue what Lulu was going on about.

Matt has been joined by a number of guest presenters since his regular co-host Alex Jones, 42, took a break from the show earlier this year.

Alex welcomed her son Kit to the world back in May and has been updating her followers on social media about the newborn’s first few weeks at home.

In one recent post in view of her 179,000 Instagram followers, The One Show host was seen preparing for a night of feeding.

“And just like that… it’s night again,” she wrote, captioning an image of herself holding on to the top of her head.

Aspiring other new mothers, Alex added: “We can do this mamas.”

The One Show returns 7pm 22 July on BBC One.
