Bradley Walsh, 59, was joined by the Sinnerman star Paul Sinha, 49, on this afternoon’s edition of The Chase as four new contestants tried their luck at winning the jackpot.
After 52-year-old Linda was sent home minutes into the game, student Ashley became the first player to make it through to the final round of the ITV quiz show.
Contestant Trevor also failed to make it to the Final Chase, with the last player of the day Stuart joining Ashley to claim the cash prize.
With £9,000 at stake, Ashley and Stuart gave Paul a run for his money as they built up 20 points between him and the jackpot.
The contestants were offered several push-backs as Paul answered Bradley’s questions, but a few of them Ashley and Stuart failed to guess correctly.
One question posed to the pair was: “A sequel to what Anna Kendrick musical film came out in 2015?”
Whereas Paul passed, Ashley seemed confident she knew the answer by telling Bradley it was Pitch Perfect 2.
However, Bradley told her she was incorrect as Ashley had misinterpreted the question, with the host explaining: “It is not Pitch Perfect 2, that was the sequel.”
Viewers watching at home weren’t too happy, with one posting on Twitter: “@ITV – “What sequel to what Anna Kendrick musical film was released in 2015?” – they were told it was wrong… but it is Pitch Perfect 2… #TheChase.
Another added after Ashley failed to correctly answer another push-back: “That’s a shame. She knew that, David Guetta. Couldn’t recall his name. Feel so sorry for her. Also Pitch Perfect was *almost* a trick question the way it was worded. #TheChase.”

A third simply wrote: “Oh f**k off #thechase #pitchperfect2,” as Bradley explained the real question being asked.
With several failed attempts to push Paul back, the Sinnerman beat the contestants, meaning they walked away with nothing.
Bradley said they could have got the jackpot as their was only four seconds to spare if they’d answered the Pitch Perfect question correctly.
“Ashley, don’t be so disappointed. You played brilliantly well,” the host told the dismayed contestant.
Commending the pair, Paul said: “That was a great game.”
“Yet, we all made mistakes,” the Sinnerman continued.
“Me and Ashely between us should have come up with David Guetta’s name and if Stuart had got William The Conqueror, the whole thing would have been a very, very different game.”
Commenting on the contestant’s efforts, viewers posted on Twitter with one sharing: “What a shame, they did so well! #thechase.”
Another opined: “Two easy push backs and couldn’t execute!! Unlucky, but good work #THECHASE.”
Whilst a third remarked: “That was so close! #TheChase. Think they could of won if they got Pitch Perfect.”
