Tesla is constantly updating its vehicles via software updates, which can improve the owner’s experience with the car.
The over-the-air updates allow drivers to keep their car up-to-date and be equipped with the latest safest features.
Over the years, the company has asked its users for suggestions for new features or listened to calls form its customer base to improve the product.
Examples of updates in the past range from the Ludicrous+ mode, which unlocks the car’s top performance, to easter eggs such as turning your car into the 007 Lotus on the screen.
Now, the firm has quietly released a new software feature that will prevent the driver from potentially running out of charge.
One of the biggest issues hindering electric cars is range anxiety from the driver.
A large proportion of motorists still believe that electric cars will not be able to suit their lifestyle.
The company has released a new feature which means that drivers will receive a notification when their vehicle is running low on charge.
It was a fairly little-known feature until YouTuber Marques Brownlee, more commonly known as MKBHD, asked Elon Musk for a similar feature.
The tech reviewer tweeted: “@elonmusk @Tesla Random app feature request I just thought of: Send a notification when the idling car drops below a certain (custom) percent remaining.
“Would make it easy to worry less about range loss, esp. in cold climates!”
Before the Tesla CEO replied, however, the company replied to Marques saying “We recently added a functionality that sends you a notification when the battery hits 9%”
A notification will be sent to your phone via the app if it is left uncharged and the battery pack drops below nine per cent.
