The September update adds HowLongToBeat integration. If you’re not familiar with the website, it’s a resource where you can find out how much time you may need to complete a specific game. What makes HowLongToBeat so helpful is that it has separate estimates for players with different playstyles.

Using Red Dead Redemption 2 as an example, HowLongToBeat estimates most people will need about 50 hours to complete the main story, and another 30 or so hours to play through the game’s side content. If you want to see everything RDR2 has to offer, that will take about 174 hours.

Microsoft suggests the integration will make it easier to decide what game you want to play next since you’ll have a better idea of the time commitment it wants from you. The company also notes you can click “View Details” to submit your own play times and help other players decide how to spend their time.

Even if you don’t end up using the HowLongToBeat integration much, the September update will help you save time. According to Microsoft, the Xbox app is now 15 percent faster at launching. Additionally, there should be significantly fewer instances of crashes and games failing to download or install successfully. Lastly, the search functionality should produce results about 20 percent faster.

There’s a new way to hop into a game. When a friend shares a screenshot or game clip that catches your eye, you’ll be able to tap the play button on a computer or mobile device and fire up the game in a browser. 

For instance, if you’re on your phone and see a cool Forza Horizon 5 clip that your friend posted, you can start playing the game just by clicking the button. Given that this is a cloud gaming function, you’ll need an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership to use it.

Xbox’s take on the feature doesn’t seem quite as advanced as Stadia’s State Share, however. The latter allows you to join a game at the same point as someone else and experience a world exactly as they left it just by clicking a link.

There’s another welcome feature that’s available on Xbox Series X/S starting today: noise suppression for party chats. Microsoft says it can keep sounds like controller clicks, your breathing and background noise out of your friends’ ears.

Noise suppression, which Xbox started publicly testing back in May, will be enabled by default. If you want your pals to hear music you’re playing in the background, you can switch it off from the Parties and Chats options in the guide. Microsoft plans to bring the feature to more devices in the near future.

The Games with Gold April 2019 lineup is being launched by Microsoft tomorrow, April 1.

And that means fans only have a short window to grab some of the free games available during March.

Every month, Microsoft reveals a list of titles that will be available to those with an active Xbox Live Gold subscription.

However, these games are only downloadable for a short time, and when they disappear, you will no longer be able to add them to your collection.

The good news is that fans still have time to add titles like Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance to their digital libraries.

The Games with Gold refresh date has been set for tomorrow, meaning you still have time to do whatever you please.

They will then be replaced by The Technomancer and Star Wars Battlefront 2 from the original Xbox console.

Fans also have until the end of April 1 to purchase any of the discounts currently running as part of the Deals with Gold program.

This is another perk of having an Xbox Live Gold subscription, which sees a new weekly selection of titles reduced in price.

There’s a mix of new and returning deals available on the Game Store right now, including 20% off Ubisoft’s Trials Rising.

Soul Calibur 6 is also available with 67% off, although fans can also grab a deal for the game when they renew their Xbox Live Gold subscription.

Other deals currently available to Xbox Gold owners include Grand Theft Auto V: Premium Online Edition, Farming Simulator 19 and Bridge Constructor Portal.

And these aren’t the only new Games with Gold bonuses available to enjoy over the coming days.

Xbox Live gamers have until Wednesday, April 3, to play The Elder Scrolls Online free on Xbox One.

The Elder Scrolls Online is a large download and might take a few hours to download depending on your internet connection.

Weighing in at just under 100 GB, ESO was originally released by Developers ZeniMax Online Studios in 2015.

The Elsweyr Prologue – part of a new ESO expansion – is also available to try out with the free download.

Here’s more information on the ESO expansion content, with a new statement explaining: “In the Wrathstone DLC game pack, you began your Season of the Dragon adventure by delving into two challenging dungeons and collecting both halves of the mysterious Wrathstone tablet.

Fans won’t have to wait long to find out what is included in the new Games with Gold April 2019 lineup.

Fans can currently download the likes of Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 and Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion on Xbox One.

These are free to play for as long as you have an Xbox Live Gold subscription and will likely switch over to whatever new console is released by Microsoft in the future.

And a new collection is being primed for an announcement later this week by Microsoft.

The April Xbox Games with Gold collection looks set to be revealed closer to the end of the week, giving fans plenty of time to check out everything being offered.

Being an Xbox Live Gold also makes it possible to access special discounts on select titles each week.

This Week’s Deals With Gold features several AAA titles and also coincides with the launch of a new Publisher Sale.

The Deals with Gold featured right now includes Far Cry New Dawn, Just Cause 4 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Discounts are valid now through 25 March 2019 and will be replaced by a new selection soon after.

All three titles have a considerable discount running on them, cutting the price in half for Just Cause and Tomb Raider.

The same goes for New Dawn; however, there is also a deal that reduces the price further if you purchase it with your Gold subscription.

There are also a lot of other games currently included in Deals with Gold, which can be checked out by clicking through to the console store.

It should be noted that Just Cause 4 is available as part of the Xbox Game Pass, which is also seeing some big changes this month.

Microsoft is removing a selection of titles currently available on the Game Pass and replacing them with new ones.

Kingdom New Lands, Late Shift, Portal Knights and Sacred Citadel are all being removed by the end of March.

All four have been available to play via Game Pass since April 2018, with Late Shift and Portal Knights currently on sale.

Microsoft has also been adding new games to the Pass this week, including Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and What Remains of Edith Finch.

March 28 will see The Walking Dead: Michonne Telltale mini-series and Vampyr added to the Xbox Game Pass.

For those that have never used it before, Games with Gold is available to all Xbox Live Gold members and can be redeemed from the Gold widget on the Xbox One home screen.

When you select a game, it’ll be stored in your account and ready for download when you sign in to your console.

It should also be noted that new Games with Gold titles become available on the first and the sixteenth day of every month.

Microsoft could see new competition from Sony’s PS4 when it comes to console features in 2019.

While there are plenty of new Xbox One projects on the horizon, it appears that PlayStation will be announcing a new partnership in the coming months.

Key features on each console help to sell them to certain gaming groups; the PS4 supports PSVR while the Xbox One boasts backwards compatibility.

There is also another feature that can’t be found on PlayStation consoles which has been available on Xbox and PC for some time.

EA Access is a subscription service from Electronic Arts that allows fans to gain access to a vault of AAA titles.

It’s an existing gaming service available on Xbox Live that lets gamers play tons of EA titles, as well as making it possible to try out brand new games before launch day and save 10% on EA digital purchases.

These are its main bonuses and they are currently only available on Xbox One and PC.

However, new reports this week suggest that EA Access is coming to PS4, and while not crushing news for Xbox, it does mean they lose an exclusive item.

As mentioned above, EA Access allows gamers to try out new titles early, which is not something available on PlayStation consoles right now.

With EA Access coming to PS4, this would level the playing field between the two companies in this one area.

So why do we think EA Access could be coming to PS4? Data miners believe they have found code within the subscription service that mentions PS4 directly.

One mention reads: “You will need to sign in with your PSN account in order to buy an EA Access subscription.”

This new find comes following direct comments from EA that their Access subscription service was being planned for another platform.

EA CEO Andrew Wilson discussed it during an earnings call, revealing that “In the year ahead we plan to offer a subscription service on another major platform.

Adding: “We have a lot of great content coming in FY20, and we’re excited for more players to experience it through our subscription programs across more platforms.”

It should be noted that nothing has been announced by EA or Sony on this subject, meaning that EA Access remains an Xbox console exclusive for now.

The good news for Microsoft is that they already have their own version of EA Access that’s proven popular with fans.

And while Microsoft has mentioned they would like to bring it to as many platforms as possible, there are currently no plans for the Xbox Game Pass on PS4.

So this will remain a formidable exclusive, alongside the upcoming Project xCloud streaming service.

But while this could prove good news for Sony’s PS4, it was also recently revealed that the Nintendo Switch is currently the best-selling console of 2019.

Leaving Microsoft in third place, it appears the Switch has made a strong start to the year, keeping Sony in second place.

The NPD Group reports that the Switch is now the leading console for 2019 and looks to be the new device to beat.

“Nintendo Switch is the best-selling hardware platform of February,” NPD analyst Mat Piscatella revealed. “And [for] 2019 year to date.”

“Hardware spending in February 2019 declined 12pe cent when compared to a year ago, to $ 277 million. Nintendo generated its highest February-month hardware dollar sales since February 2011.

“The company also reached the highest year-to-date dollar sales for Nintendo-produced hardware since 2011.”

It was recently revealed that Microsoft’s Xbox Live service had reached 64 Million Monthly Active Users.

This has been estimated to be an 8 per cent growth over last year and important news when you consider that hardware sales have declined considerably.

ARK Survival Evolved is getting a major update today that includes changes to the structures available in-game and how the kibble system works.

Studio Wildcard has confirmed that this new patch is launching today on PS4, Xbox One and PC and should already be available for some.

The big changes being made today have been listed by the development team in new patch notes, which confirm the scope of what fans will be able to do now.

While Studio Wildcard has moved on from releasing mega patches including new dinosaurs and biomes, they are now focused on fine-tuning the game’s most important elements.

Today’s ARK Survival update is called the Homestead expansion and includes elements from the popular Structure Plus (S+) mod, and the long-awaited kibble rework.

For those that don’t know, Structures Plus (S+) is a player-created Sponsored Mod by Orionsun and is available for the first time on PS4 and Xbox One today.

With these new elements now implemented into the game on all platforms, here’s the complete list of structures you can find in-game:

  • Dedicated bulk storage
  • Triangle foundations, ceilings and roof pieces
  • Four high walls
  • Fence supports for level walls
  • Flexible pipes and electrical cables
  • Double doors
  • Swappable variants for ramps/stairs
  • New visual variants for existing structures

Away from the exciting structure improvements comes the long-promised kibble rework.

Here’s the full rundown from Studio Wildcard on what has changed, writing: “Previously the Kibble system worked like a tree, the egg of one creature being used in a kibble to tame the next creature in line.

“Often these kibbles didn’t make sense in terms of game progression and became more redundant with each new creature that was added to the game.

“Each creature now falls into one of six categories, and that creature’s egg can be used to tame any creature within that specific category. Instead of having 50+ different kibbles all requiring a different specific egg, it is drastically reduced to: Basic, Simple, Regular, Superior, Exceptional, and Extraordinary kibbles!”

The Xbox Games with Gold lineup appears to have leaked early.

Microsoft’s Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb is expected to make the official Games with Gold announcement later today at 4pm UK time.

But it looks like the free Xbox One and Xbox 360 games may have leaked early on the Taiwanese Xbox Facebook page.

According to the image – which can be seen below – Mojang’s Cobalt will headline the Xbox One lineup alongside Plants vs Zombies 2 Garden Warfare.

Cobalt will be available from March 1 until March 31, while Plants vs Zombies 2 Garden Warfare will join Games with Gold on March 16 and leave at midnight on April 15.

Some reports suggest that Cobalt will replaced by a different game in Europe and the US, so check back later for confirmation.

Xbox 360 users will be able to download Star Wars Republic Commando on March 1, followed by Metal Gear Rising Revengeance on March 16.

Cobalt is an action platformer that features a mysterious cyborg.

“Shoot, roll, punch, and jump your way to slowmotion victory in Cobalt, an action platformer from Oxeye Game Studio,” reads the official description.

“Take on the role of a mysterious cyborg stranded on an even more mysterious planet in our single player campaign, or play with friends in a wealth of coop and versus multiplayer modes.”

Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2, meanwhile, is a multiplayer shooter developed by PopCap and published by EA.

“The battle for Suburbia grows to crazy new heights in Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2!” the store description reads.

“In this hilarious, action-packed shooter, you can attack as the plants or defend as the zombies in the all-new 24-player Herbal Assault mode, or choose your side in 4-player co-op or Solo Play to sow the seeds of victory!”

In the meantime, Xbox Gold subscribers can download the February 2019 free games.

This includes Super Bomberman R and Bloodstained Ritual of the Night for Xbox One and Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy for Xbox 360.

Bomberman is available to download until midnight on March 15, while Bloodstained leaves the service on February 28.

Dataminers rummaged through the recently released Fortnite update 7.40 to discover details on a major cracken event allegedly coming to Battle Royale.

The final season of Game of Thrones is launching when Fortnite season 8 is taking place.

owners can download a surprise new game for free this weekend.

A recent Direct event revealed a slew of new titles coming to the hybrid console over the coming months.

And this also included the news that a new Battle Royale Tetris game is available to download this week.

Tetris 99 is not a demo trial that will run out in a couple of days but a fully fledged title taking the world by storm.

And the new game is exactly what it might sound like, the opportunity to battle 98 other gamers until you emerge victorious as the sole winner.

It’s the latest spin on the Battle Royale genre and free to download and play on the Nintendo Switch.

The only downside is that you need an active Nintendo Online subscription to play it.

“99 players…but only one will remain! Tetris 99 is the iconic puzzle game as you’ve never seen it before.

“Can you pick the right strategy to best 98 other players online – all at the same time?! Tetris 99 is available as an exclusive offer for members of the Nintendo Switch Online paid membership service.

“After all, Tetris 99 is all about battling online for block-dropping dominance against players around the world.

“In large-scale, 99-player battles, it’ll take speed, skill, and strategy to knock out the competition and become the last player standing.

The other thing to note about Tetris 99 is that it is a fully fledged exclusive for the Nintendo Switch.

You can’t download and play Tetris 99 on PC, Xbox One or PS4, making it a pretty unique experience for the time being.

Tetris fans should be warned that the new game doesn’t come with much of a tutorial, meaning you will need to jump in and work out the rules yourself.

And if you thought that Tetris 99 would remain a one-trick pony that could fizzle out in the coming days, it appears that the new BR experience is getting new game modes.

Data miners have found evidence that Tetris 99 will expand in the near future on Nintendo Switch.

Like any good Battle Royale experience, will Tetris 99 will soon offer group games, among other classic challenges.

Team Battle will see two giant teams fight for victory, while COM Battle will offer a single-player bot-only challenge.

The classic-sounding Marathon mode, meanwhile, will offer endless gameplay and a changeable starting level.

Online events are being planned for Tetris 99, so fans can expect new badges to earn in the coming months.

And from the sound of the online chatter, there’s going to be plenty of people hanging around to play Tetris 99 in the future.

Fallout 76 is down right now with servers for the Bethesda game offline on PS4, Xbox One and PCs.

Fallout 76 went down at 2pm UK time today and Bethesda said they anticipated the PS4, Xbox One and PC game will be down for “several hours”.

The Bethesda Support Twitter posted: “@Fallout 76 is undergoing maintenance on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Please check http://bethesda.net/status for more information.”

While in a recent post online Fallout 76 community manager Valseek said: “Fallout 76 is still offline for maintenance as we roll out the adjustments mentioned below.

“We’ll continue to keep you updated as today’s maintenance continues. Thank you!”

The post previously said: “We’re planning to bring Fallout 76 offline for maintenance around 9:00 a.m. EST on February 14, and anticipate that downtime will last several hours.

“During this time, we’re planning to remove items that have been created through duplication exploits from player inventories and stashes.

“These item removals are part of our ongoing efforts to address exploit abuse and make positive changes for the overall in-game economy. These removals are highly-targeted at a specific list of items.

“Players who have used an exploit to dupe items, or acquired duped items from other players, may find those items removed from their accounts once maintenance is complete.

“It’s also important to note that only a small percentage of accounts currently have duped items, which means the vast majority of players will not be affected by this action.

“Additionally, during downtime, we’re going to roll out a server-side fix to reduce the frequency that players might experience disconnects from game servers.

“We’ll post a follow-up thread with more details once tomorrow’s maintenance is complete.”
