Megyn Kelly is reevaluating her stance on blackface. Just hours after stating on-air that it isn’t “racist” for white people to darken their skin with makeup on Halloween as long as they’re portraying an actual person or character, the host of Megyn Kelly Today on Tuesday released an internal email to her staff, apologizing for her words.

“One of the wonderful things about my job is that I get the chance to express and hear a lot of opinions,” Kelly wrote in the email. “Today is one of those days where listening carefully to other points of view, including from friends and colleagues, is leading me to rethink my own views. I realize now that such behavior is indeed wrong, and I am sorry. The history of blackface in our culture is abhorrent; the wounds too deep.”

She continued, “I’ve never been a ‘pc’ kind of person — but I understand that we do need to be more sensitive in this day and age. Particularly on race and ethnicity issues which, far from being healed, have been exacerbated in our politics over the past year. This is a time for more understanding, love, sensitivity and honor, and I want to be part of that. I look forward to continuing that discussion.”

For the record, this isn’t the first time Kelly has come under fire for racially insensitive remarks she’s made while on the air. During a Fox News segment in 2013 about Santa Claus being depicted as a race other than white, she said, “Just because it makes you feel uncomfortable doesn’t mean it has to change. You know, I mean, Jesus was a white man too.” Yikes.

Those tuning into the competition were baffled when it was revealed that the voting lines for this week would be open from the start of the show. 

Viewers are usually given a short time slot to save their favourite celebrity on a Sunday night. 

But tonight, due to the special double elimination, fans have been given the chance to vote for their favourite star before they had performed. 

However, viewers were far from impressed with and ’s announcement and took to Twitter to complain. 

“Why is the voting open now? That means you’re not voting on performance only on who you like. Totally wrong. #DancingOnIce,” one viewer tweeted. 

While another added: “Voting is open already ahhh @dancingonice #DancingOnIce wow well that’s thrown me ….  plus double elimination.”

A third continued: “If voting is open before they have even skated, it’s pretty clear that #dancingonice is just a popularity contest and isn’t actually about the skating.

“Sad thing about having voting open now is that people are going to vote without seeing the skating #doi #dancingonice,” someone else wrote.

A fifth noted: “@dancingonice So you’re opening the lines to vote already. Without seeing the skating? Basically asking to vote for your favourite person not the best skater! #Nice #DancingOnIce.”

Another added: “#dancingonice opening the votes from the beginning is all about favourites not if they can actually skate!!”

Ahead of tonight’s show, bookmakers noted that they believe the  

The actor’s odds to win the series have been slated at 50/1. 

Meanwhile, former X Factor singer Jake Quickenden continues to be the favourite to win at 1/2. 

Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead said: “People are putting their money on Jake to skate his way to victory as if defeat is out of the question. 

“He’s one of the shortest priced contestants we’ve ever seen at this stage of a celebrity TV programme.”

The forecaster was wrapped up warm in a grey puffer coat as he reported on the weather at Hampton pool in south west London.

Standing beside a heated pool for the early morning shoot the weatherman began to describe the scenery.

He said: “Doesn’t it look appealing? You see the steam coming off the Lido here at Hampton pool. 28 degrees in there, its only two celsius outside by the pool.”

Continuing to report on his surroundings, he added: “The roof top here has a little frost on, but has certainly not stopped the swimmers this morning.

“The appeal of the Lido is definitely not just for summer, it’s lovely in there I’ve been told,” he added.

However, viewers at home were quick to point out that he had made an error during his weather forecast.

Taking to Twitter to correct Matt, one wrote: “@BBCBreakfast pls tell Matt Taylor that it is water vapour seen coming from the Lido pool and not steam which is invisible.”(sic)

While another posted: “#BBC Breakfast #Matt #weather if that is steam coming off that swimming pool then those swimmers will be cooked!”

“Please tell the weather man Matt that is not steam coming off the Lido swimming pool. They aren’t cooking the swimmers,” added a third.

The meteorologist was also flooded with concerned messages by viewers who were scared that he’d be cold filming outside. 

A worried viewer tweeted: “@mrdanwalker @louiseminchin please @BBCBreakfast provide your poor weatherman #Matt with a #woolyhat #poorchap #frostbiteontheears.”

Another wrote: “#bbcbreakfast …Matt needs gloves #earlychristmaspresent,” while a third added: “Layer Matt and wear a hat. Should be standard issue from the BBC.”

Craig Stillwell and Carla Andrews appeared on the ITV breakfast show to talk about their horrific ordeal which saw their daughter Effie taken away from them for eight months and put into care.

The couple found themselves under suspicion when they took their baby to hospital last August after she collapsed at the age of five months. 

Mr Stillwell was arrested by the police and both were questioned after they were suspected of shaking their baby causing the bleed on the brain that was found. 

It was only after the couple contacted a solicitor’s firm to take on their case that they discovered Effie had the rare medical condition Ehlers-Danlos syndrome type IV (EDS).

The case against the pair was brought to a halt and they have now been reunited with baby Effie, however during her time in care they missed out on her first word and first Christmas as a family.  

Many people took to social media to blast the services for the miscarriage of justice as one person angrily wrote: “#ThisMorning Social services are a law unto themselves. All about hitting targets and clearing up cases. More common sense would help.”

A second furious posted: “Hate authorities who say we follow strict guidelines & always have the child’s best interests at heart.  YOU GOT IT WRONG!!! #ThisMorning.”

“Heartbreaking hearing that young couples story I couldn’t bare to imagine how you feel your baby is beautiful #thismorning,” a third added.

However, others defended the authorities for the extreme action against the couple as one viewer said: “Tbf in situations like that the services are dammned if they do and dammned if they dont  #ThisMorning [sic].”

A second tweeted: “#ThisMorning what would we rather?another missed abuse case?I’m sorry that parents went through that but I’m happy their daughter is safe!”

Speaking about the felt following the ordeal, Ms Andrews said: “I felt like we were animal for those few months. It felt like she wasn’t our daughter. The foster carers were amazing but I felt she might forget that we were her parents.”

She went on to say: “The only thing they could have done is keep her in for other observations” rather than jumping to conclusions and getting the police involved straight away.

Dr Mike Knapton, Associate Medical Director at the British Heart Foundation, said: “The Mediterranean diet and daily exercise can help reduce heart disease risk, but I’m afraid the claims about saturated fat made in this opinion piece are unhelpful and misleading. 

“Decades of research have proved a diet rich in saturated fat increases ‘bad’ cholesterol in your blood, which puts you at greater risk of a heart attack or stroke. 

“When it comes to reducing your risk of heart disease the lower your cholesterol is the better. This can be achieved through a healthy, balanced diet or medication for some.

In a special episode, which highlighted some of the issues facing modern day prisons, Aaron (played by Danny Miller) came face to face with homophobic thug Jason once again.

Jason and his cronies pushed Aaron into an empty cell and began to taunt him.

Holding him down, Jason told Aaron that he was lying in the same bed where his own father had committed suicide.

Later on in the programme, unable to tell anyone what had happened, Aaron turned to drugs.

Before the soap started, ITV warned that there were scenes of violence ahead that some viewers might find upsetting.

But some of those watching at home were so deeply affected by the hard-hitting storyline, they switched the show off before the first advertisement break.

One social media user said: “Sorry #Emmerdale I love you but I had to switch off. The things he was saying to Aaron were too much for me.”

“#Emmerdale? What exactly does the watershed cover? Don’t need this on my Monday night. Now watching The One Show,” another complained.

A third tweeted: “#emmerdale Cannot watch this. Shocking and wrong that it is on at 7pm.”

While a fourth said: “This is too violent for 7pm #Emmerdale @emmerdale.”

Emmerdale continues tomorrow night at 7pm on ITV.
