Hundreds of Google workers and their supporters gathered near the company’s downtown San Francisco offices Thursday, raising signs that read “No Tech for Apartheid” and filling the air with chants of “Tech from Amazon and Google! You can’t claim that you are neutral!”

Similar scenes unfolded outside Google and Amazon offices in New York and Seattle, and a Google office in Durham, North Carolina. Google and Amazon employees were joined at the rallies by tech workers from other companies and Palestinian rights organizations. They all convened to protest Project Nimbus, Google and Amazon’s cloud computing contract with the Israeli government.

A long-haired spiritual leader is coming to Netflix — right around the holiday season.

The new 10-episode thriller Messiah will premiere Wednesday, Jan. 1, the streamer announced on Tuesday, with Michelle Monaghan (True Detective, The Path) starring as Eva Geller, a CIA officer investigating a mysterious “miracle man” who’s developed a cult-like following across the globe. “He’s come out of nowhere, and we don’t know who he is,” she reports to her superior officer in a new trailer — which you can watch above — but with his long hair, beard and tranquil demeanor, he does kind of remind us of someone…

He says he’s doing “God’s work,” but is he actually just scamming people with fake miracles? “I’m going to find out everything about you,” Eva vows, and it is kinda tough to tell if this prophet’s smile is benevolent… or malicious.

EastEnders upped the raunch factor in Tuesday night’s episode as Shirley Carter (played by Linda Henry) and Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) were seen breaking into a hen party at E20.

At the nightclub, the women were surrounded by erotic dancers and the wild party was dimly lit, with loud music pumping through the room.

But some fans of the BBC show were baffled by the vast number of party-goers, as the event was held in broad daylight.

Many viewers questioned why the function would be held in the middle of the afternoon when some functions of this kind happen later in the evening.

On Twitter, one person wrote: “That nightclub in the Square, must be the only one in the country that opens in the day!”

Another viewer added: “Packed nightclub but it’s still daylight and the market is still open?”

A third commentator exclaimed: “AND IT’S DAY TIME OUTSIDE!!! What! I’m so confused.”

Others complained about Jean bringing Hayley’s (Katie Jarvis) baby to the seedy party, with one even demanding the person responsible for the script be sacked.

A show viewer raged: “Whoever is responsible for this storyline with a baby in a nightclub should be fired immediately!”

Someone else asked: “What would the lady from social services say if she saw Jean in the club with the baby in the pram?”

Meanwhile, a second person tweeted: “Seriously taking a baby into a night club, get a grip”.

Nevertheless, some viewers found the scene hilarious and took to social media to comment on the moment.

One fan declared: “That was one of the funniest moments in EastEnders that I’ve seen; the baby at the club with Jean.”

Another shared: “Haha aww baby Cherry giggling at the song in the club now that is cute.”

Somebody else begged: “Forget the Mel [Owen] storyline can we just have half an hour of the club with them strippers please.”

Although there were aspects of humour in the Jean plot, the Slater matriarch’s current predicament is anything but funny.

The grandmother was recently told by her doctor she is suffering from ovarian cancer, but needs to have further tests to be 100 percent sure.

She is yet to tell her loved ones about the devastating prognosis she received and has continued to live her life as normal.

Jean was previously diagnosed with bipolar, a condition which proved tasking for her on many occasions.

Now, she may have to face yet another challenge if the final result confirms her ovarian cancer diagnosis.

EastEnders continues Thursday on BBC One at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.

In January, the inspectors eventually decided to go to great lengths to finally track down the thief and prepared a special letter containing a test greeting card and a $ 20 bill for the delivery in the Wauwatosa area. The envelope was fitted with a transmitter, which would send a signal if the letter was opened.

Smith was also placed under surveillance and a USPS supervisor saw her rifling through trays assigned to other delivery routes and grabbing greeting cards, which she then put in her tray. Shortly after that, when she was on her delivery route, the transmitter signaled. When the postal agents then approached her, they did not only find the opened envelope and the $ 20 bill she put in her purse but also some 50 greeting cards in her bag and her USPS vehicle.

Later in July this year USPS vehicle sent to an auto salvage yard turned out to contain 6,625 greeting card envelopes and 540 personal checks as well as 45 unopened greeting cards. The car belonged to Smith as well.

In September, the postal worker eventually entered a plea agreement and admitted to stealing all those cards as she claimed that she needed money to pay her bills and take care of her four children. It is unclear if any amount of money or the letters were returned to the recipients. The average mail carrier salary in Wisconsin is $ 16 per hour.

“The cause of the overpayment was a combination of two different human errors, those being the erroneous initial data entry and a subsequent failure to adequately address [a system-generated alert],” the auditor-general’s report said.

The worker, who was based in a remote area of the Northern Territory, returned the money four weeks later.

According to the report, the case is one of 743 overpayments made by government departments in the NT between July 2017 to January 2018. The incorrect payments totaled more than AU$ 1.6 million ($ 1.2 million), with AU$ 767,000 ($ 559,000) yet to be paid back.

“My review of the data related to salary overpayments highlights the necessity for the entity to be vigilant at all times,” the auditor-general said.

In response to the report, the Department of Corporate and Information Services said it processes 1.2 million payroll transactions annually, with overpayments representing about 0.2 percent of the total.

It added that had enacted several system enhancements to prevent large overpayments occurring in the future.

The 87 story Lakhta Center is nearing completion after six years of construction. Designed by British firm RMJM, the business complex on the outskirts of the historic city is set to be Europe’s new tallest skyscraper. The tower, which twists a full 90 degrees from its foundation to its top will offer residential and commercial space as well as an observation deck over the Gulf of Finland. The tower will also headquarter the Russian gas giant Gazprom, which is set to move in by the end of 2019.

A Department of Motor Vehicles worker has brought new meaning to the term sleeping on the job after it was revealed that she slept at her desk for a whopping 2,200 hours over three years.

According to an audit report from the California State Auditor, the key data operator cost the state more than $ 40,000 whilst snoozing at her desk. From February 2014 to December 2017, the woman was sleeping for “extended periods of time during work hours.”

The audit found she failed to perform her duties for “at least three hours each workday” because she was constantly falling asleep. Her supervisor said she woke the woman three to four times a day and that she missed only 30 minutes of work a day, which was disputed by four witnesses who allege she slept for hours at a time. Two said she slept for a minimum of three hours a day, which the audit concluded was correct.

“In addition, the employee’s supervisors failed to take disciplinary or medical action against the employee after initial efforts to address her conduct proved unsuccessful.” the audit reads.
