Eligibility periods be damned. Stranger Things, which hasn’t released a new episode in nearly two years, took home a pair of trophies at the 2021 Kids’ Choice Awards, including Favorite Family TV Show.

Gaten Matarazzo, Finn Wolfhard and Noah Schnapp virtually accepted the orange blimp on behalf of the entire cast, while Millie Bobby Brown was on hand to accept two more awards: Favorite Female TV Star and Favorite Movie Actress (for Enola Holmes).

All That and Kenan and Kel grad Kenan Thompson returned to his former Nickelodeon stomping grounds to host the slime-tastic event, which featured socially distant appearances by Robert Downey Jr. (who accepted the award for Favorite Movie Actor for, um, Doolittle), Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tyler Perry and Kim Kardashian, and the casts of black-ish (Anthony Anderson, Yara Shahidi and Marsai Martin) and iCarly (Miranda Cosgrove, Nathan Kress and Jerry Trainor).

Meanwhile, Jennifer Garner introduced Vice President Kamala Harris, who presented the Generation Change Award to the young leaders across the nation. In a prerecorded speech, the VP thanked America’s youth, who have endured remote learning and maintained social distancing throughout the pandemic.

Worst Cooks in America Season Pulled After Winner’s Arrest for Child Murder https://briefnews.eu/worst-cooks-in-america-season-pulled-after-winners-arrest-for-child-murder/ https://briefnews.eu/worst-cooks-in-america-season-pulled-after-winners-arrest-for-child-murder/#respond Sun, 24 Jan 2021 03:47:34 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/worst-cooks-in-america-season-pulled-after-winners-arrest-for-child-murder/

Food Network has pulled all content related to Season 20 of Worst Cooks in America, following the arrest of winner Ariel Robinson for a child’s death.

Robinson, 29, along with husband Jerry Robinson, 34, face counts of homicide by child abuse for the death of their adopted three-year-old daughter, reports TV news station WHNS. The child, identified as Victoria Smith, was found unresponsive on Jan. 14 at the couple’s home in Simpsonville, S.C., having died as a result of blunt force injuries, according to a medical examination.

Since the arrest was made, Season 20’s episodes and all clips related to it have disappeared from the Food Network’s Discovery+, Hulu and YouTube pages. The network has yet to comment on the situation.

Robinson won $ 25,000 in the last edition of Worst Cooks in America, which follows contestants with admittedly bad cooking skills as they compete for the grand prize. The cast members endure a cooking boot camp under celebrity chef supervision, all while trying to serve up the best of the worst to avoid elimination.

Hosted by chefs Anne Burrell and Alex Guarnaschelli, Season 20 originally aired in the summer of 2020. Robinson was declared the winner during its Aug. 2 finale. Season 21, featuring Burrell and guest mentor Carla Hall, premiered on the Food Network Jan. 3, 2021.

Amazon Prime‘s The Bay The Series led the pack on Sunday night as the 2020 Daytime Emmy Awards announced the winners in several digital drama categories.

In an online ceremony hosted by Queer Eye’s Jai Rodriguez, The Bay The Series — which had already been named Outstanding Digital Drama Series at the Daytime Emmys’ main event on June 26 — collected another three golden ladies, for Lead Actress Jade Harlow (who plays Lianna), Lead Actor Kristos Andrews (Pete), and for Outstanding Directing Team for a Digital Drama Series.

Elsewhere, The Rehearsal‘s Tina Benko (Helen) won for Supporting Actress, Studio City‘s Tristan Rogers (Doc) grabbed the Supporting Actor prize, Lin Shaye was named Outstanding Guest Performer for her turn as Eastsiders‘ Diane, and After Forever was acknowledged as having the top writing team.

At last month’s main ceremony, CBS’ The Young and the Restless dominated the soap opera pack with eight total wins, including for Outstanding Drama and Lead Actor. CBS’ The Bold and the Beautiful and ABC’s General Hospital amassed four total wins apiece, while NBC’s Days of Our Lives claimed a pair of prizes.

Survivor: Winners at War Premiere Recap: The $2 Million Battle Begins https://briefnews.eu/survivor-winners-at-war-premiere-recap-the-2-million-battle-begins/ https://briefnews.eu/survivor-winners-at-war-premiere-recap-the-2-million-battle-begins/#respond Thu, 13 Feb 2020 14:47:43 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/survivor-winners-at-war-premiere-recap-the-2-million-battle-begins/

The season fans have been waiting for is finally here and as Jeff shouts via voiceover: “Twenty winners, everybody wants it, this is not going to be easy!” May the odds be ever in their favor.

Survivor‘s 40th season kicked off Wednesday on CBS with a jam-packed, two-hour premiere of its highly-anticipated all-winners season aptly titled: Winners at War. Is there any chance this could suck? I think not. These 20 have all outwitted, outplayed and outlasted; they’ve back-stabbed, hoodwinked and manipulated! (Well, maybe not Ethan.) The hype is real, so lets dig deep for another 39 days of rigorous water challenges, exhaustive sand battles, cutthroat tribal councils and, of course, Jeff Probst‘s signature dimples.

As the cast speedboats into the game, Tony reminds us that fans have been waiting 20 years for this (we know, dude!), while Parvati calls herself a “phoenix rising from the ashes, ready to burn down your house!” Ethan tells us about his diagnosis of Hodgkin’s lymphoma. “I remember dreaming and praying that I’d be alive long enough to play Survivor again,” he says. “It is a miracle I’m sitting here today.”

When the tribes finally reach land to size each other up, Sandra is baffled. “I spent 36 days with Boston Rob on Island of the Idols and he never told me that he was playing again,” she says, “and so I definitely feel betrayed.” Get used to it, Queen!

They find Jeff ready to go with a bottle of champagne and glasses. Glasses are passed around and the cast celebrates with a toast. Buffs are passed out and here’s the breakdown:

On Dakal (the red tribe): Tony Vlachos, Wendell Holland, Amber Mariano, Kim Spradlin-Wolfe, Sophie Clarke, Nick Wilson, Sarah Lacina, Yul Kwon, Sandra Diaz-Twine and Tyson Apostol.

On Sele (blue): Boston Rob Mariano, Natalie Anderson, Ethan Zohn, Parvati Shallow, Ben Driebergen, Michele Fitzgerald, Danni Boatwright, Denise Stapley, Jeremy Collins and Adam Klein.

Probst then announces the new Survivor currency: fire tokens. Each person starts the game with one token. When they’re voted out, they must bequeath it to someone else. He also tells them that Edge of Extinction is in play (ugh). Oh, and the money? It’s $ 2 million. The cast doesn’t have long to celebrate because Jeff is ready to throw them into action.

GET FIRED UP | For their first challenge, the tribes battle for fire in the form of flint and immunity. It’s a classic water challenge where groups must duke it out to drag a large ring tube back to their team colors. It’s a brutal physical feat as the ocean swell knocks them around like rag dolls. Dakal takes the win, sending Sele to the season’s first tribal council. It’s about to get real.

Dakal gets to their camp and finds a fire token menu which allows them to buy food, challenge advantages and other goodies. This is a huge twist! It’ll be interesting to see how it shakes out, but hey, at least it’s not a Medallion of Power, right?

Yul tells Sophie he wants to work with her. The two discuss how Tyson and Rob are best friends, and how those two played poker with Kim and Jeremy.

At Sele, Denise strikes up a quick bond with Adam, who wants to be her new Malcolm, but the tribe quickly realizes the two are missing. Meanwhile, Rob and Parvati meet to discuss their “checkered past.” Parvati had a hand in getting him out pre-merge in Heroes vs. Villains, so Rob tells her they should get on the same page from the beginning. That could be a powerhouse duo.

Danni throws Rob’s name out and Ben (stupidly) runs and tells Rob. He goes and confronts Danni who comes clean. Rob says there could be an “old school” alliance of Rob, Parvati, Ethan and Danni.

STRATEGY SESSION |  Denise and Adam are on everyone’s radar, but Ben wants to protect Adam. (Man, Ben really can’t keep his mouth shut, huh?) Adam tries to flip the script and suggest Jeremy and Natalie, but he and Denise have some work to do. Oddly enough, Rob and Parvati seem to be sitting pretty, which causes them to get paranoid. “It doesn’t seem to be a fully-baked plan,” Parvati says.

THE TRIBE HAS SPOKEN | At the first tribal, Adam deflects attention from him and Denise and says there are way deeper relationships to worry about. Everyone starts to twist everyone else’s words, which leads Jeremy to wonder if Rob and Parvati have something planned. Before we know it, nothing makes sense and it’s time to vote! (Aside: There are so many interconnected histories at play here that it’s literally impossible to guess what’s going to happen. I LOVE THIS SEASON ALREADY.) Jeff reads the votes and Natalie is the first one sent to the Edge. On her way out, she anonymously gives her fire token to Jeremy.

LIVIN ON THE EDGE | Natalie gets to the Edge where a sign tells her she can win fire tokens to help her get back in the game. Seems like another twist is brewing… will there be multiple ways to earn your spot back in? The next day, she receives an Edge price list. She finds a clue inside a bottle which tells her to go to where the sun last sets. She hikes what seems to be miles and finds an immunity idol. It has no value on her beach, but she can sell it to someone from the losing tribe in exchange for one token. That… is cool!

At Dakal, Sandra is still trippin’ over Rob lying to her, which causes the Queen to set her sights on Amber. Yul, Nick, Wendell and Sophie seem “locked and loaded,” as the players who are disconnected to others. Yul plans on controlling the game with his squad, plus Sarah and Sandra.

ROW, ROW, ROW YOUR BOAT | It’s a good ol’ fashioned boat-brawl where tribes have to row out to collect number tiles. Players then swim to a barrel roll, then a net crawl, before running up the beach to complete a lock combination. Dakal gets it first, but they must complete three ring tosses in order to win. They can’t do it and Sele comes back from behind to snag immunity.

STRATEGY SESSION | Dakal has a big decision to make back at camp. Nick and Sandra’s names are thrown out first, promises are being made… and Amber is lost. It’s going to be hard for some of these OGs to keep up. “I’m just going to spread truth, lies and rumors,” says Sandra. But plot twist: Natalie sends her idol Sandra’s way and the Queen takes the deal.

Elsewhere, Yul is still scared about “the poker alliance.” Tyson eats some crow in order to avoid a target, which he then indirectly places on Kim and Amber.  Kim is on the outs and isn’t taking it well. She knows the poker club is putting her in danger, but there doesn’t seem to be anything she can do about it.

THE TRIBE HAS SPOKEN… AGAIN | Jeff focuses in on the different eras of players at hand. Tony’s name comes up for his hyperactive strategy, but Amber is having trouble staying afloat. Sandra says you have to keep up with the pace of the game or get out of the way. Kim tells Jeff about the poker alliance, which she says doesn’t exist, while Tyson tries to lean away from it. The $ 2 million comes into the conversation and it seems that friendships miiight be lost this season because let’s be honest: the price is right. Jeff tallies the votes and Amber becomes the second player sent to the Edge.

Britain’s Got Talent 2019: Simon Cowell snubs former BGT winners after massive claim https://briefnews.eu/britains-got-talent-2019-simon-cowell-snubs-former-bgt-winners-after-massive-claim/ https://briefnews.eu/britains-got-talent-2019-simon-cowell-snubs-former-bgt-winners-after-massive-claim/#respond Sat, 07 Sep 2019 21:31:22 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/britains-got-talent-2019-simon-cowell-snubs-former-bgt-winners-after-massive-claim/

Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions brought another collection of contestants to the forefront this evening to battle it out as the best act on the show.

The huge array of acts consisted of singers, dancer, ventriloquists, and comedians.

One of the stranger acts came from Germany – an 11-year-old girl named Alexa Lauenburger and her eight dogs.

Alexa brought an intricate and highly-choreographed routine to the stage with her dogs to the tune of The Greatest Showman.

The act included the dogs working together to perform jumps, and even an eight-dog conga line.

It was so well received by hosts Ant and Dec that it garnered the much-coveted Golden Buzzer, sending Alexa and her puppy pals straight to the final.

However during Simon Cowell’s praise he seemed to snub a previous winner of Britain’s Got Talent.

The media mogul announced: “You at your age – to have that relationship with those gorgeous, gorgeous dogs is absolutely amazing.

“This is the best dog act I have ever ever seen!”

However fans of the show were quick to point out the other major dog act that has graced the stage with their paws: Ashleigh and Pudsey.

The duo won the competition back in 2012, and went down in history as the first dog act to win the competition.

Simon continued by adding: “This is one of the best acts we’ve ever had.”

Fans of the show were ecstatic over the act as well, as one wrote: “Well that makes Pudsey look right s**t!! (god rest his soul) #BGTChampions #Alexa #BGT.”

Another added: “B****y hell that German lass has put Pudsey to shame wow #bgt #BritainFirst #BGTChampions.”

Later in the show Jai McDowall returned to the stage to complete his act once again – but Simon recently told The Sun he had to apologise for slamming the act in 2011.

He told the publication: “I did feel when I saw him again that he’s the definition of a proud man.

“He didn’t sulk — he just came back to prove a point. And he did. I knew I had to apologise to him at that moment.

“It gave me a chance to say something publicly I should have said some time ago.

“But it was also the fact he had the guts to come back and compete, knowing I wasn’t that supportive the first time he was on the show.

Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions continues tonight at 8.30pm on ITV.

Love Island 2019 winners: Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea crowned champions of final https://briefnews.eu/love-island-2019-winners-amber-gill-and-greg-oshea-crowned-champions-of-final/ https://briefnews.eu/love-island-2019-winners-amber-gill-and-greg-oshea-crowned-champions-of-final/#respond Mon, 29 Jul 2019 22:50:34 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/love-island-2019-winners-amber-gill-and-greg-oshea-crowned-champions-of-final/

Love Island 2019 ended tonight as Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea were crowned the winners of the series.

After eight long weeks, they saw off 38 other contestants and won over the hearts of the nations to scoop the £50,000 prize money.

As for Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague, they were the bookmakers original favourites but came second place in the show.

Ovie Soko and India Reynolds were given third place in the competition while Maura Higgins and Curtis Pritchard came fourth.

Fans of the reality dating show were incredibly happy that Amber and Greg won the show.

Taking to Twitter to comment, one said: “Me when Amber and Greg won. YES TO HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS.”

“TWITTER IM SO PROUD AMBER AND GREG ASJSJSKSLSLSK,” a second chimed.

Someone else wrote: “Omg absolutely shocked that Amber and Greg are the winners of #loveIslandfinal but I’m so happy for them! They deserve it!.”

“Actually so buzzing for Amber and Greg! She deserves it so much Thank god I can stop crying now,” a fan exclaimed.

While the pair won the show together, there was a twist involving the prize money.

Amber and Greg got to choose from two gold envelopes, one contained £0 and the other £50,000.

Those watching at home saw Amber open her envelope first – the one with no money it.

It was then over to Greg who revealed he had the £50,000 in his hands.

Host Caroline Flack asked the Irish rugby player: “Greg, what are you going to do?”

He had the option of keeping it all to himself or sharing it with Amber, proving to viewers whether he was on the show for love or money.

“Of course I’m going to share it!” he exclaimed, much to the delight of Amber.

Fans of the show will remember the rough ride Amber has had.

As the only original cast member to have reached the final, she has had a turbulent time.

But it seems she found what she was looking for when Greg arrived.

Love Island 2019 is available to catch up on the ITV hub.
