“I don’t think we’ve ever had an item at 25 to 12? It’s either been half-past… I’ve never said those words before on a time line-up.

“Correct me if I’m wrong, there’s lots of evidence, I have been doing this for 10 years,” Holly said.

“You did completely mess it up so maybe you’ve never said it,” Phillip remarked. “I don’t know I’ve ever said quarter past 12 now.”

“Don’t be ridiculous! You’re being ridiculous,” Holly hit back at her co-presenter.

This Morning airs on ITV on weekdays at 10am.

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby anger ITV viewers: ‘So rude’ to James Martin https://briefnews.eu/phillip-schofield-and-holly-willoughby-anger-itv-viewers-so-rude-to-james-martin/ https://briefnews.eu/phillip-schofield-and-holly-willoughby-anger-itv-viewers-so-rude-to-james-martin/#respond Mon, 22 Mar 2021 18:39:50 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/phillip-schofield-and-holly-willoughby-anger-itv-viewers-so-rude-to-james-martin/

The bizarre segment didn’t go unnoticed by viewers and some were angered by how “rude” Holly and Phillip were to James.

“That was really cringe to watch,” one viewer tweeted. “@Jamesmartin put up with the unprofessional behaviour from Holly and Phillip.”

Another commented: “Rude and interrupting.”

While one added: “How does James Martin put up with those rude presenters?”

Other viewers seemed to think that Holly and Phillip’s behaviour was part of a prank for Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

“If that wasn’t Ant and Dec’s Get Out of My Ear in Holly and Phil’s earpieces during your cooking segment on This Morning, I’ll eat my hat,” one fan tweeted.

Another said: “Watching the show on plus one and this has got Ant and Dec written all over it.”

James, 48, joined Holly Willoughby, 40, and Phillip Schofield, 58, on This Morning to whip them up a number of delicious dishes. As is routine, the trio usually picks fun at each other and this often leads to rather hilarious moments on the ITV show. However, it seems the chef was less than impressed with a comment the mother-of-three made about it him when the programme returned to screens after an advertisement break.

With the chef getting set to make some pork crackling, Holly decided to tell viewers what James was going to make preparing.

In doing so, she made a joke about his “meat”, which left the culinary genius shaking his head as he cringed at the joke.

Going one step further, the kitchen wizard then headed towards the doors of the studio and make a swift exit from the set.

The hosts were both left in hysterics and desperately tried to compose themselves after watching their guest walk off.

Taking to Twitter, viewers were more interested in how much butter the chef was putting into his dishes, with one writing: “Do you need any butter for this recipe James?”

“Never have I been so glad to see James Martin and his mound of butter,” another avid viewer posted on the social media platform.

Whilst a third fan jokingly remarked: “James is a great advert for his all butter diet any way #ThisMorning.”

A fourth shared: “Where the f**k is James Martin and the EU butter mountain when you need them, eh?! #ThisMorning.”

James continued: “Martin Frizell, who’s the boss of This Morning, phoned me up the year after and said, ‘We want you back,’ and I said, ‘Not a b****y chance.’

“That’s the toughest job in TV. No rehearsal, I didn’t know what was going on and the first subject was about a six foot woman goth with a crow and a Great Dane.

“The following conversation was about some women’s issues. I thought, ‘What am I doing here?!’,” he told Platinum Magazine.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.

‘I hated it’ Holly Willoughby opens up on being ‘shamed’ over her dyslexia https://briefnews.eu/i-hated-it-holly-willoughby-opens-up-on-being-shamed-over-her-dyslexia/ https://briefnews.eu/i-hated-it-holly-willoughby-opens-up-on-being-shamed-over-her-dyslexia/#respond Thu, 04 Mar 2021 13:45:32 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/i-hated-it-holly-willoughby-opens-up-on-being-shamed-over-her-dyslexia/

“At school, it wasn’t really that well known then but at college, there was one lady, in particular, and she talked me through it and gave me so much advice and for me, that was my turning point.”

Later, Holly added: “For me, because I’m not very good at spelling, for years I felt so shameful about that.

“I hated it, I didn’t like it at all and would find myself in situations where I wouldn’t be writing down in front of people because I wouldn’t want them to see how bad it was.

“Now, when you take control of that back and you go, ‘Actually I don’t care,’ for me the most important thing is the communication.”

Spokesperson Harry Aitkenhead said: “The celebrities remain to battle it out on the ice to be crowned Dancing on Ice 2021’s champion and we make Faye the hot favourite to go all the way.”

Speaking of being partnered with Matt Evers, 44, after Hamish Gaman’s, 37, exit, Faye said: “Well my head was spinning, obviously, but what’s so lovely is I owe everything to Hamish for teaching me all the basics, the technique, to how to perform, and I fell in love with ice skating.

“Things have changed and I got given Matt, he has been here since day one which is phenomenal, he knows what the judges are looking for and, but he’s a pro, we’ve had to work ridiculously hard in the last week and just kind of go with it,” she told This Morning.

Matt added: “It’s a whole new world, literally we’ve had 11 hours together to get ready for Sunday.”

Dancing on Ice continues Sundays at 6:15pm on ITV.

Phillip Schofield breaks down in tears in tribute to Holly Willoughby: ‘She’s astonishing’ https://briefnews.eu/phillip-schofield-breaks-down-in-tears-in-tribute-to-holly-willoughby-shes-astonishing/ https://briefnews.eu/phillip-schofield-breaks-down-in-tears-in-tribute-to-holly-willoughby-shes-astonishing/#respond Sat, 24 Oct 2020 05:58:50 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/phillip-schofield-breaks-down-in-tears-in-tribute-to-holly-willoughby-shes-astonishing/

Phillip Schofield, 58, was joined by Holly Willoughby, 39, back in February when he revealed on national television he was gay. The This Morning star has previously spoken about how it was only ever his co-star who he wanted to talk to about his life-changing news live on air as she had become a dear friend to him in his darkest hour. Some months down the line and with his latest autobiography detailing his coming out journey, the ITV presenter still gets very emotional speaking about his colleague, who continues to be a huge support to him.

Speaking with Chris Evans, 54, on his Virgin Radio Breakfast Show on Friday morning, Phillip broke down in tears when the interviewer began to speak about his co-star.

Paying tribute to his friend and colleague, the father-of-two explained: “Holly has been astonishing. Literally, the best mate.

“She’s serene and calming and sensible and balanced. Not just for me but also for Steph,” the presenter told the former Top Gear star.

The mother-of-three was the very first person at work The Cube host confided in about his secret after sitting down with his wife of 27 years, Steph Lowe, and the couple’s two daughters to explain how he felt about his sexuality.

It was in his dressing room the former children’s television presenter spoke candidly to his friend as she became increasingly worried about him.

After Phillip finally told Holly what was playing on his mind a year ago, the presenter said she saw a little white feather outside his dressing room.

“She picked it up and gave it to me, and she said ‘see, it’s all going to be okay.’ The feather is still in my wallet,” he explains in his autobiography, Life’s What You Make It.

The This Morning presenter went on to tell Chris on Friday why he had to tell those around him and the world what he was going through.

“I just wasn’t me anymore. I lost me. And I still haven’t found me, if I’m honest,” the father-of-two admitted.

It was on Friday, February 7, 2020, Phillip sat down with Holly on the This Morning sofa to give the interview, taking over from hosts Ruth Langsford, 60, and Eamonn Holmes, 60.

Originally, the father-of-two had wanted to make the announcement whilst he and his co-star were presenting the show on Thursday.

However, it was his colleague and friend who told him to leave until the end of the week as she didn’t want to present the programme without him.

Speaking on The One Show earlier this month, the former children’s television presenter explained: “I said to Holly ‘I’ll do it on a Thursday morning and then I’ll go and you carry on the show with someone else’.”

“We were in a bar in London, secretly having this meeting and she said, ‘You’re joking? There’s no chance that you’d leave and I carry on’,” he continued.

“And so she said, ‘We’ll do it on a Friday and ask Eamonn and Ruth if we can nick 10 minutes of their show and then we leave together’.”

Ruth and Eamonn did carry on the show after offering their support to Phillip, who has continued to host the programme ever since.

The presenter has also received support from swathes of the public, as well as many of his famous friends in light of the interview.

The Chris Evans Breakfast Show airs weekdays at 6:30am on Virgin Radio. This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.

Holly Willoughby walks off This Morning after being ‘told’ to leave: ‘Only tell me once!’ https://briefnews.eu/holly-willoughby-walks-off-this-morning-after-being-told-to-leave-only-tell-me-once/ https://briefnews.eu/holly-willoughby-walks-off-this-morning-after-being-told-to-leave-only-tell-me-once/#respond Thu, 15 Oct 2020 14:07:26 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/holly-willoughby-walks-off-this-morning-after-being-told-to-leave-only-tell-me-once/

Holly Willoughby, 39, was on hand to host This Morning alongside Phillip Schofield, 58, and the duo had another packed show full of different segments and games. As every programme now features, the pair played Spin to Win with a lucky caller who had the chance to get their hands on a big-money prize. The ITV viewer explained their name was also Holly and when it came to concluding the segment, things went a little array. Jokingly suggesting it was she who had been told to leave, the host said: “You don’t have to tell me twice,” and walked out of sight of the camera.

The game hadn’t got off to the greatest start as the presenters rang someone who failed to pick up their phone.

Instead of hanging up, the pair decided they wanted to leave a voicemail, completely forgetting the phone number was going to be read out by the automated voice on the other end of the line.

After trying to make enough noise to drown out the number and leaving their message, the duo then spoke with viewer Holly who admitted she was supposed to be doing university work instead of watching the television.

Noticing the caller had the same name, presenter Holly went on to offer her praise over the sharing the same moniker.

Unfortunately, this meant when it was time to say goodbye to the participant who won £1,000, the host jokingly thought she’d been told to leave the set.

Phillip was the one who seemingly told his co-star to leave the set as he said to the caller: “Bye, Holly.”

“See you later, bye,” his co-star then remarked as she waved to the camera and walked out of sight of the camera.

“You only need to tell me once,” she joked as she and her co-host were left in hysterics over the comical moment.

The mother-of-two then referenced the fact she and her fellow presenter wouldn’t be on-screen next week as they enjoy a break for half-term.

The interview on The One Show was conducted in line with the presenter releasing his autobiography, ‘Life’s What You Make It’.

Holly told her friend at the start of Thursday’s show she had not read her bits of the book as she wanted to read the entire thing from start to finish.

“You talking on The One Show last night actually made me cry as I never heard you say that,” the mother-of-two said after hearing her friend talk so valiantly of her.

With everything happening on-screen, fans took to social media to comment on what the presenter was wearing.

For Thursday’s show, the mother-of-two wore a knitted blue and cream striped t-shirt and paired it with a navy denim skirt.

Holly posted her wardrobe choices on Instagram in view of her 6.9 million followers and some of them were in awe of what she was wearing.

One posted on the social media platform: “I crown you the queen of the colour blue!” with a second adding: “Love this outfit!”

“You look Beautiful Holly, but to be honest you would look stunning wearing a bin liner,” a third commented.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby hit with Ofcom complaints for ‘unacceptable’ advice https://briefnews.eu/phillip-schofield-and-holly-willoughby-hit-with-ofcom-complaints-for-unacceptable-advice/ https://briefnews.eu/phillip-schofield-and-holly-willoughby-hit-with-ofcom-complaints-for-unacceptable-advice/#respond Thu, 08 Oct 2020 12:27:08 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/phillip-schofield-and-holly-willoughby-hit-with-ofcom-complaints-for-unacceptable-advice/

During Monday’s episode of This Morning, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield spoke to travel editor Simon Calder for advice on where viewers could go in the UK for a short break. With half-term just a few weeks away, the pair wanted to help families find somewhere safe and affordable to enjoy a break.

However, as Simon suggested areas in the middle of Wales, viewers complained it was “unacceptable” of him to suggest they head to a country where there are local lockdowns.

While the south and north of Wales are under local lockdowns, Simon said Machynlleth in Powys and Aberystwyth in Ceredigion were both regions to consider visiting.

He added Wales was an “easy” option for a UK holiday which was the final straw for many viewers watching at home.

Taking to Twitter to comment, one fan complained: “Shame that most people living in Wales aren’t allowed to visit these lovely places- might be a good reason for this though. Just a thought…”

This Morning isn’t the only ITV show to be hit with Ofcom complaints.

Britain’s Got Talent’s latest episode, the last of the semi-finals, received 1,000 complaints regarding Nabil Abdulrashid’s comedy set and Amanda Holden’s racy gown.

Nabil, 35, entertained many viewers with his stand-up routine but some took offence as he mocked racists.

Amanda meanwhile angered BGT fans as she opted for a flowing navy gown with a thigh-high split and lacy corset.

In previous weeks, Britain’s Got Talent received over 28,000 Ofcom complaints following Diversity’s Black Lives Matter-inspired routine.

The pair referenced the recent death of George Floyd in the US with the powerful performance and received support from ITV regarding the routine.

Judge Alesha Dixon attracted another 1,900 when she showed her support for Diversity by wearing a BLM necklace the following week.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am.

Holly Willoughby steps in as Alison Hammond suffers blunder ‘You weren’t paying attention’ https://briefnews.eu/holly-willoughby-steps-in-as-alison-hammond-suffers-blunder-you-werent-paying-attention/ https://briefnews.eu/holly-willoughby-steps-in-as-alison-hammond-suffers-blunder-you-werent-paying-attention/#respond Tue, 06 Oct 2020 13:47:08 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/holly-willoughby-steps-in-as-alison-hammond-suffers-blunder-you-werent-paying-attention/

Alison was on This Morning to talk about her new documentary, Back To School, which airs tonight on ITV and follows the presenter as she goes on a historian journey to discover black figures who have been hidden from Britain’s history. She will highlight stories and achievements made by black people which have been overlooked in school curriculums.

But that wasn’t the only announcement Alison had to make to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

“You are also going to be a guest editor on This Morning,” Phillip revealed.

Smiling Alison replied: “I am. I’m going to whip you into shape!”

“So, being an editor on this, all decisions are made, you shape the show,” Holly remarked. “What is your show going to look like?”

The presenter explained: “Well, Holly, I’m not going to be scary, it’s just going to be a fun, packed show with a little bit of depth.

“I might change it up a little bit here, I don’t know.”

“Can we have cute animals please?” asked Holly.

Alison answered: “There’s going to be a lot of animals,” before rubbing her teeth with her finger.

“It’s on that one, this side, nearer me, nearer me,” she continued as Alison rubbed the lipstick off.

“We’ll do lipstick tips on the show,” the presenter advised as Alison stated it would be “item number one”.

The moment came after Holly thought she’d been called “Miss Piggy” by her co-star at the top of the show.

Dressed in a blue dress which was layered over a cream knit jumper, Holly looked stylish as ever.

But she broke into laughter when she thought Alison had compared her to the Muppets character.

“Alison Hammond, who is just behind my camera there, went ‘You look nice like Miss Piggy.’”

“No, Twiggy,” Alison clarified as Holly continued: “Literally three seconds before we went on air and she spat her water out across the room!”

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am.
