Week 8 will include the final Summer Skirmish action for Fortnite fans on all platforms. Having kicked off just over two months ago, the new eSports competition has been given out prize money each week for those players who have excelled. The final Summer Skirmish competition is being held at PAX West and is a 3-Stage Solo event being held Friday to Monday. At each Stage, players earn points through earning Victory Royale, finishing in the top 10, and by scoring over three eliminations. It should be noted that these points can only be earned once per match. “For example, 10 eliminations would only earn you +3 points and any additional eliminations will not add points to your score,” Epic Games explains. The Points system works as follows: VICTORY ROYALE: +3 POINTS 2ND-3RD PLACE: +2 POINTS 4TH-10TH PLACE: +1 POINT 3-4 ELIMINATIONS: +1 POINT 5-6 ELIMINATIONS: +2 POINTS 7+ ELIMINATIONS: +3 POINTS Explaining the format, Epic Games confirms: “We’re kicking things off with three Stage one heats every day, running Friday to Sunday. “These will be open to the first players to register on site each day. Each heat will play a mini-series of two matches to determine placements. The top 32 players at the end of each Heat will move on the Stage Two Nightly Qualifier for that same date. “Each evening, the Stage Two: Nightly Qualifiers will begin for all the players who advanced from that day’s Heats. The top 33 players at the end of the Nightly Qualifier will advance to Monday’s Stage Three Grand Finals. “During the Grand Finals, all players who qualified during each evening’s Nightly Qualifiers will come together in a series of matches. By the end of the six-match brawl, the ultimate victor of the PAX Summer Skirmish will be Royale-ly crowned.” And Epic Games has also promised that they will be showing off more Fortnite Battle Royale content during the PAX West livestream. During last night’s PAX stream, fans got a first look at the new High Stakes Wild Card outfit, which is coming to the game very soon. And tonight, Fortnite players can tune in at around 2am, BST, to have a closer look at the new Getaway LTM gameplay reveal. The Fortnite High Stakes event will bring with it new Getaway LTM, the Wild Card outfit as well as the High Stakes challenges. The Fortnite Twitter account posted on Friday: “Suit up… the High Stakes event begins next week and with it comes the new Getaway LTM, Wild Card outfit, and High Stakes Challenges!“ The Wildcard skin has its very own Cuff Case back bling, as well as a matching Safe Cracker glider. Fans will be hoping to find out all the juicy details tonight, as well as more information on the best ways to get the new loot. It appears this new event will be kicking off next week, so perhaps will learn about the structure and when specific will unlock, during tonight’s livestream event.
De Minaur will climb to No 78 when the fresh rankings are issued today, a mark well inside Wimbledon’s direct entry cut-off.
But All England Club entries, as with all other tournaments, close six weeks before the tournament starts and he will now have to rely on either a wildcard or injuries to other players to get in without qualifying.
Such has been the 19-year-old’s progress over the past month, his late surge has not gone unnoticed by Wimbledon officials — and he might yet be granted a wildcard after supporting the third-tier British grass court circuit.
On current standings, de Minaur is two places out from direct inclusion — one behind James Duckworth.
Given the usual injury attrition rate, the pair is likely to gain promotion.
De Minaur is the first teenager since Nick Kyrgios in 2014 to snare a grass-court Challenger title after toppling Dan Evans in the Nature Valley Open.
De Minaur’s 7-6 (7-4) 7-5 success follows his elevation into the top 100 last week after reaching the Surbiton final.
The All England Club will distribute the first of its wildcards on Wednesday. As a former boy’s singles runner-up, the Sydneysider will have plenty of support.
But if he is stranded outside the main draw, he will contest Wimbledon qualifying next week.
John Millman qualified for the Fever-Tree Championships at Queen’s Club with a 6-3 6-3 margin over Romanian Marius Copil.
But Thanasi Kokkinakis bowed out to American veteran Tim Smyczek, falling 2-6 6-4 6-3.
Millman’s reward for qualifying is a tilt at former world No 1 and triple Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic.
Nick Kyrgios will face another former world No 1 and All England Club champion Andy Murray in the opening round.
While 2017 saw the popular PC, Xbox One and PS4 game leave early access, parent company Wildcard Properties have announced new ambitious projects.
ARK Survival Evolved Mobile is coming to iOS and Android this year via Wardrum Studios, while fans can also expect the popular survival title to arrive on Nintendo Switch too.
With the recent releases of both Fortnite and PUBG on phones, it’s certainly an interesting time for gamers.
Each title has varying support when it comes to bluetooth controllers, crossplay and microtransactions.
So it’s probably a good time to find out what’s coming to ARK Survival Evolved on Mobile too.
Going by the footage recently released by Wildcard for the mobile version, it certainly looks like an ambitious project.
And speaking to the Express Online, we now know exactly what kind of limitations and new gameplay mechanics are coming to ARK Mobile.
Below you can find a new FAQ, providing answers on upcoming microtransactions, controller support and the lack of crossplay with PS4 and Xbox One.
CONTROLLER SUPPORT IS COMING TO ARK MOBILE
Controller support is forthcoming, but it hasn’t been a huge priority since we’ve been very focused on the challenge of making this game feel great with touch controls. We’ve got a lot of experience with this and have millions of happy players with our previous adaptations. We’re going touch only on the beta though, as we need as much useful feedback as possible.
IN-GAME CHAT WILL USE SPEECH RECOGNITION FOR TEXT SUPPORT
We actually have an interesting solution for in-game chat. It’s too resource intensive to support voice chat with so many simultaneous players, so we came up with a neat way to tap into Siri and Google’s Cloud Speech API. You tap a button, and the speech recognition systems convert what you say to text, which is broadcast to your desired chat channel. We also tied in some basic game commands such as the whistles and emotes into this system, though it’s purely optional.
NO CROSSPLAY FOR ARK MOBILE AND PS4, XBOX ONE AND PC
Since gathering rates, gameplay mechanics, and new game functionality differ enough, it would be difficult to include cross platform support. We also had to do a full engine overhaul in order to make the game fit on mobile devices.
BUT THERE WILL CROSSPLAY SUPPORT BETWEEN MOBILE PLATFORMS
We do support full cross platform usage between iOS and Android, including a token entry system that lets you pair an Android device and an iOS device with the same account on a server. That way if a player has an Android phone and iOS tablet, they can play with the same character on both.
MICROTRANSACTIONS WILL BE INCLUDED IN ARK MOBILE
We have staunchly opposed pay-to-win mechanics and gambling mechanics throughout development. In order to support the game development and servers, we are asking the players to contribute in a variety of other ways.
The main system we are going to push will be the purchase of a Primal Pass, a month long pass that gives you access to reserved server spots, zero ads, permanent double XP, and other incentives. It’ll probably be in the $ 3-$ 5 range.
In terms of purchasable items, we’ve consistently aimed for a “pay-to-be-convenienced” approach for players who want to do less grinding or go through the fun of gathering and crafting on their own. So players can buy a premium structure called a Lumber Mill, for example, and it can make a number of wood structures instantly. But it’s a trade off, because they didn’t earn any XP in doing so.
In addition there are purchasable temporary buffs. These buffs do what many ARK players have wanted in the PC version. For instance, the “Leg Day” buff gives you 10x weight capacity, and is perfect for players who need to haul a bunch of gear in a single trip.
Of course, we’ll be working with the community from the very start of the closed beta to work out the kinks and establish balance with transactions. We want to make sure purchases are fun and convenient, but don’t screw up the fun for players who want nothing but the core ARK experience.

In July of 2017, the nonprofit certificate authority Let’s Encrypt promised to deliver something that would put secure websites and Web applications within reach of any Internet user: free “wildcard” certificates to enable secure HTTP connections for entire domains. Today, Let’s Encrypt took that promised service live, in addition to a new version of the Automated Certificate Management Environment (ACME) protocol, an interface that can be used by a variety of client software packages to automate verification of certificate requests.
ACME version 2 “has gone through the IETF standards process,” said Josh Aas, executive director of the Internet Security Research Group (ISRG), the group behind Let’s Encrypt, in a blog post on the release. ACME v2 is currently a draft Internet Engineering Task Force standard, so it may not yet be in its final form. But the current version is the result of significant feedback from the industry. And its use is required to obtain wildcard certificates.
In addition to the ACME v2 requirement, requests for wildcard certificates require the modification of a Domain Name Service “TXT” record to verify control over the domain—a similar method to that used by Google and other service providers to prove domain ownership. But much of this can be automated by hosting providers that provide DNS services. A single Let’s Encrypt account can request up to 300 wildcard certificates over a period of three hours, allowing a hosting provider to handle requests for customers who may not have shell access to their sites.

Alex De Minaur could be Australia’s next great tennis hope, and he’s got quite the story to tell.
Roger Federer begins his title defence today.
PLAYING his pension card, Roger Federer is refusing to accept title favouritism as he prepares to defend his Australian Open crown and land an astonishing 20th grand slam singles crown.
“With age, I feel like I play down my chances just because I don’t think a 36-year-old should be a favourite of a tournament. It should not be the case,” Federer said.
But that’s exactly the way it is after the Swiss marvel dominated 2017 like he was 26 again.
Meanwhile, Ash Barty and Alex De Minaur headline a big Aussie contingent playing on day two of the Australian Open in Melbourne.
After an encouraging opening one for the locals — where five players, including Nick Kyrgios and an impressive Daria Gavrilova, all progressed, much will be expected from Barty and De Minaur after their impressive runs at the Sydney International last week.

The Rams haven’t hosted a NFL playoff game at the Coliseum in nearly 40 years but the young upstart team have a chance to create history tonight.
Sean McVay, the youngest head coach in NFL history at 31 years old, has completely transformed the Rams from last season’s mediocrity.
But they come up against a Falcons side who came agonisingly close to winning the Super Bowl last year, only to be outdone in one of the most historic comebacks by Tom Brady’s New England Patriots.
The veteran-led team will be looking for revenge this year and still have the reigning NFL MVP Matt Ryan in their side.
It promises to be an electrifying match between the two teams as they look to book their place in the Divisional Round of the playoffs and here’s how you can follow the action.
The game is available to watch live on Sky Sports with coverage starting at 1am today with the match scheduled to begin at 1:15am.
Coverage starts from 5pm with kick-off expected to be at 6pm UK time.
Sky Sports Action, available on Sky channel 408, is the home of NFL, while Virgin Media customers can watch the action on channel 501.
If you’re unable to get in front of a TV, Sky Sports customers are able to watch the game live via Sky Go.
American viewers can catch the action online by heading to WatchESPN.
To most, there is no option. Australia must embrace its tennis youth and, regardless of consequence, hand its two remaining Australian Open men’s singles wildcards to the future.
Unfortunately for Lleyton Hewitt, Jason Stoltenberg and Wally Masur, that stance will lead to collateral, but justifiable, damage.
For reasons best known to himself, Bernard Tomic opted not to contest Tennis Australia’s wildcard play-off.
Had he bothered to travel to Melbourne, train and test form and fitness in a best-of-five-set format, he might have already secured a maindraw berth next month.
But the former junior prodigy and world No 17 effectively couldn’t find the motivation to jump on a flight from the Gold Coast.
In the absence of injury, Tomic seemingly has turned his back on an excellent opportunity to repatriate himself into the Hewitt’s support network.
Given the way Australian tennis operates, his self-imposed Cup exile and continued estrangement means he won’t get a wildcard.
His Davis Cup record alone would, alongside a more conciliatory and committed approach, make the Queenslander worthy of a discretionary invitation.
But not in the present circumstances.
If Hewitt and co take a long-term view, there will be hard luck stories.
This year, Sam Groth – one of the sport’s enduring success stories and a thoroughly deserving recipient of a wildcard – is retiring at the Open.
He’s partnering Hewitt in doubles and, all being well, Sam Stosur in mixed doubles.
As a Davis Cup loyalist and Newcombe medallist, sentiment and service should play a part.
True to form, Groth is not expecting a wildcard.
With Alex De Minaur (playoff winner), Thanasi Kokkinakis and Alex Bolt (playoff finalist) already in the main draw, the next player in would have been Akira Santillan.
Sadly, the Queenslander won’t contest the Open because of a serious back injury.
In rankings order, the next players to be considered are John Patrick Smith, 28, Andrew Whittington, 24, and Groth, 30.
Then comes Omar Jasika, 20, and Max Purcell, 19.
In the current setting, will selectors plumb completely for the future or reward the departing Groth or the industrious Smith?
The only certainty is that Tomic, fifth-highest behind Nick Kyrgios, is on again on the outer.
And, as always, there is no simple solution in a complex situation.
Patterson clawed her way back from certain defeat in the deciding set as Rodionova served for the match at 5-3.
RATINGS: TV GIANTS SET TO BATTLE FOR TENNIS RIGHTS
DEMON: HEWITT PROTEGE HUNTING OPEN WILDCARD
Reprieved, Patterson claimed four games in a row to vault into Monday’s final with a 4-6 6-3 7-5 escape.
Coached by Cara Black, Rodionova has repeatedly admitted this week to battling for timing and form while still in training mode.
Bearing down on a top-100 ranking, the Victorian will now have to qualify for the January 15-28 grand slam or rely on a discretionary wildcard.
Patterson will challenge Aiava for the privilege of entering the main draw next month.
Aiava secured her place in the championship match with a 6-4 6-1 margin over fourth seed Kimberly Birrell.
Best mates and top seeds Alex Bolt and Alex De Minaur will fight out the men’s final.
The women’s singles final starts from 11am today, with the men’s decider not before 12.30pm.
ARK Ragnarok is a full conversion mod that is proving popular on Steam.
While available on PC, it’s not finished and will likely require a fair few update before it is.
That’s due to the development team building a 144 sq kilometer map, designed to be explored by land/sea/air with most places accessible by foot.
But for those on PS4 and Xbox One hoping to get in on the action, there have been a series of major delays.
Studio Wildcard first announced Ragnarok as deploying in July, which was then delayed until early August.
And now this release date has been pushed back, alongside the full physical release of ARK Survival Evolved.
The one upside to this is that the game’s pre order period has also been extended, which also includes the content-and-bonus-packed special editions.
“Ragnarok’s new release date on console and upcoming PC update will now also be the 29th of August,” a message from Wildcard confirms.
“This extended time will allow further development of the map and you guys can expect a gigantic update, even bigger than we initially thought.
“On the date of release, the overground of the world will increase by approximately one quarter, which is near-enough a ‘TheIslandsized’ expansion; the update will feature new biomes, a coastal Wyvern canyon, an epic boss encounter, new engrams, and something secret the Ragnarok team are cooking up!
“We will also be adding their custom creatures to our main game, which will allow players to transfer them via the CrossARK system, so you’ll be able to bring over your Ice Wyverns to The Island, The Center, and Scorched Earth.”
Unlike the full game, Ragnarok has been developed by the former creators of popular ARK mods Valhalla and Umassoura.
The team includes David Miller, Matt Janz, and Jackson Lawrence, who came together to work on their latest project to offer yet another gaming alternative.
Global Cross-ARK and isolated Official Ragnarok servers will be available on all platforms, although the mod itself isn’t a completely finished product.
“Ragnarok is still in primary development, and so it will continue to expand with updates over time,” a message from Studio Wildcard explains.
As you can expect, Ragnarok includes its own special creatures, weapons and items, more of which will be revealed in the coming weeks.
One of the biggest draws will be the Griffin, a new tamable beast which is sure to prove a challenge for players.
“Gryphon Magnificum is undoubtedly a sight to behold. Many ancient myths tell of various depictions of the Griffin over the ages, but what is never disputed is its majestic and mysterious nature.
“With the front half of an eagle and the back half of a lion, it is as if these two creatures somehow fused together to form a superior land and air predator.
“While one’s first instinct might be to approach the creature and marvel at its beauty, that would be a very poor decision. Its range of attacks makes it one of the more versatile predators I’ve witnessed.
“If its presence alone isn’t enough to intimidate potential hunters, it has the ability to dive from the sky to the ground with such force that it inflicts damage to anyone unfortunate enough to be below it, or carry its momentum back into a rapid uplift.”
